Lollipup
I was talking to another dog crazy friend tonight and she mentioned that she is attending a baby shower tomorrow. Since neither of us have kids but we love dogs, we came up with the idea that we should have puppy showers. I wonder if anyone else has done that? I don't know if many of my friends would take it seriously if I really did that lol!

YvonneM
Well, I guess I should join this thread now too ..... I haven't posted very often and although I have been reading these forums for quite a long time, have only recently joined in. After having lost our beloved Winston just on a month ago, we are now awaiting the arrival of our little baby who will help to mend our broken hearts. Our puppy was born on 27th Feb and we will be visiting him for the first time in about 3 weeks time .... but will be meeting his breeder at the Royal Easter Show in about 2 weeks when she is showing there. We can't wait for our puppy to come home .... our house is so quiet without the pitter patter of little paws and the tinkle of a collar!
luvsdogs
Exciting times YvonneM. What breed of puppy are you getting?
YvonneM
We will be getting a little Maltese .... our Winston was a Maltese x we rescued many years ago, with more Maltese than anything else in him, and we fell in love with his temperament. Simply Grand
Oh a pure Maltese puppy, yay! Can't wait for the photos :) I have a poodle x malt, he's a great little dog. We've discussed on DOL before how unfortunately you don't see that many pure Maltese around these days so I'm excited to hear about and see your little one. Simply Grand
It's addictive Jules... Miah will be a dog (no longer a puppy) before you know it and you'll miss that puppy breath  ... then you may get another puppy or two and say to yourself "what on earth was I thinking!?!" We don't have kids either, and Ive not been invited to many over the years (I think because my friends know I couldn't have babies, and that the shower parties will upset me ) Im tempted to do one for Miah, and have been considering it, just don't have the energy to put one together, and I have noone else that would do one for me. LOL, when I first signed up this forum I was gonna use "Kiwigirl" but that name wasn't available at the time. So I thought Kiwigal is close enough. :) Thank you, I'm counting down the days to bring her home soon, also it will be my first time to give a go at the Dog Show in WA. :) I better make sure I haven't forgotten something to add on what I need before the pup comes home. Yes, you don't see many Maltese's around, but lots of little cross breeds that must have plenty of Maltese in them. We can't wait ..... but it's a bit daunting all this puppy stuff! I have a couple of photographs but need to figure out how to post them here.

I'm the same ... couldn't ever have kids and now we are "expecting" our first puppy! Sorry to hear that Jules I think if you want it you should do it - any excuse for a fun get together that is dog related. I'm thinking I'll start a thread for ideas. I have one crazy dog friend and she has kindly offered to throw it for me. Most of my other friends aren't dog people but I'm going to invite them anyway, then I'm also going to invite some of my long term dog training clients too to get a few more dog people involved. Do you have some dol friends nearby that you could invite?
