Katie P
Yeah ahahaha! My new one's name is Temperance but we are shortening it to call her "Tempe". I think there shall be rarely any dogs named that! You either like it or hate it I have discovered! I thought about going Japanese.....but I either knew dogs with the same name or couldnt pronounce the name LOL my family want to call her Akira but.......reminds me too much of WA's Akira! (Spitz thread lurker here ) Edited May 6, 2011 by Katie P
Katie P
I thought I should add that Akira is GORGEOUS WA. I am a little reluculant to name dogs the same as dogs I know of!
Ambrosia
I like Tempe! It's different... I'm the same as you I don't like dogs with same name as other dogs.... Besides would make things confusing on here I looked at Japanese names but couldn't find one that suited (or yes, could pronounce). So ended up with an Italian name for a Japanese dog
Katie P
I really like Angelo!!!! Did he know his name when you got him? Was he toilet trained?
Ambrosia
I really like Angelo!!!! Did he know his name when you got him? Was he toilet trained? Angelo as he's an angel We only decided his name the night prior to picking him up! It's so hard to chose a name. Wasn't toilet trained, but we also have a very large house which would be daunting for a pup to know where things are. We used a crate and my husband set his alarm every 2hrs to take him out at night (bless his cotton socks ) after a few weeks no alarm was needed and Angelo would cry twice a night to go out, then once a night. Then at about 17 weeks we left the crate door open and crossed our fingers and no messes in the morning. I thought that was quite quick. His biggest hurdle was the doggy door, we built a little ramp so he didn't have to jump and could just step through and tied the actual doggy door up so it wouldn't hit him. Now he looks like a agility dog jumping through it (around 20 weeks).
whiskedaway
I thought I should add that Akira is GORGEOUS WA. I am a little reluculant to name dogs the same as dogs I know of! Haha, that's okay, I know what you mean! I made sure that I picked a name for Halo that I didn't know any other dogs with the name. There is actually another Husky named Akira whose owner pops in now and then in the Spitz thread, but I don't think they've been on for ages. Katie P
That is true! It was part of my inspiration to call her that! Hopefully I won't meet many!
Smartypaws
Tempe is a great name! It is quite different too. I also like Angelo....cute . We are also playing the name game......but OH and I never agree! I like old men's names too.....my pick is Claude....which got a big thumbs down around here . Although it may make the registered name as the litter is a 'C' litter! ........and then maybe it will stick ;) . Also thinking about crate a toy shopping....but sort of don't want to jinx things in case the puppy doesn't end up being suitable .

Smartypaws
Oooooh, not many Laekenois around, that's very special. I know one old boy who wins the hearts of everyone he meets, he has the best temperament. Hi Smoothie Girl Do you happen to know who the old fellow you know was bred by? Curious if he might be related to my boy... The reason I ended up choosing this breed was because of the exceptional temperament of the brother of the mum of the litter I am interested in....does that even make sense?? . He converted me from my previously favoured breed....and the Belgian is a much better fit for my family and training plans.
SmoothieGirl
Smartypaws, he's a link to his Dogzonline profile. http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/profile.asp?dog=11671 Btw, he has many more herding titles now than his profile suggests, but has recently retired. LozaBalgo
Paddy Update :D Well only 2 weeks tomorrow and our family will be complete. Found out this week he has an undershot jaw but you know what they say 'a diamond with a flaw is worth more than a pebble without imperfection'. Got some more pics tonight. Have sore eyes from reading too much about training and desexing and immunisations and socialising etc etc etc!!!! Paddy will be 7 weeks on Sunday ;)

Ambrosia
Cute pictures!!! Names are so hard.....although I feel thankful that I am the one with the only say! Yes you are lucky- it is most annoying to spend hours putting together a list of potential names only for OH to say no to every one in 2 minutes! Rosie is gorgeous- love the pic on the scales
Ambrosia
So very excited, I can now officially be in this thread.... I have a puppy on the way!!! A Finnish Lapphund. Puppy is currently 3 weeks old, we are getting a girl, there are two girls in the litter and we won't know which one is ours until they are 5-6 weeks. We met the puppies yesterday, so adorable!
