Dory the Doted One
I've had that twice. :) Willow, no clue. I saw pics, but none jumped out. I merely left it in the laps of the gods and her breeder. The gods and her breeder chose well. I haven't stopped kissing the fur off her, even through the teeth.

LisaCC
Thanks guys :) One in particular has stood out, he has very beautiful dark markings, but he's a full tail and one of those has been taken on with a show home so I'm not sure which three are the ones I get to pick from! I should be getting updated pictures of the three boys before I head off. I'll be looking at and asking about temperament, personality and confirmation first up. I plan on getting in to agility and obedience so I want a sound confirmation and a reasonable drive (but apparently these three are all looking like they have that). Then if all fails I'll pick a pup on looks lol. I have a soft spot for the NBTs but still love the big fluffy tails! SO HARD!! I'm a big fan of darker merles, so lots of splodges
LisaCC
I'd also find it very hard to look over a nice big masculine head. Love me a boofer

I have colours in my head as I have a long term plan with showing but need to remember its about the make up of the dog and the personality. I cant wait. cassie
Whippytails, are there any colours that tend to do better in the show ring? Or any that aren't allowed?

LisaCC
Does anyone have any recommendations of what to take to the breeders on Saturday for the pup. I've been told a toy or blanket. If a toy I'm guessing a good sized plush dog toy about the same size as the pups? I've also heard I should have the toy/blanket on me when I sleep the night before so it's got my smell on it? Then obviously it will get the litter smell on it for when he comes home. Is that correct? Whippytails I had the same question with your pups colour as Cassie :) Edited June 12, 2013 by LisaCC
JackC
are you travelling alone or with someone, is it a long trip?? if alone: you will need a secure area in the car (cage or back seat hammock) if with someone: you can have the pup on that persons lap but only in the back seat, too dangerous in the front and also illegal as far as I'm aware what to take: towel wet wipes small plasic bowl water bottle something nice to lie down on, if in a cage maybe a toy or treat to keep there mind off the trip Also did the breeder introduce the pups to car travel before now? I know mine did and Koda was pretty settled in the car after about 15min of crying, I didn't pull over though till he settled down to give him some water and a cuddle try not to break up the trip too much, if you have someone with you that's great as they can keep the pup company and keep its mind active while you travel, if alone like I was expect allot of crying and some anxiety but only stop if your worried about the pups safety, they will settle after a while. LisaCC
Jack I'm not picking him up, just picking him out! Few more weeks to go still! Also thanks for the info, but I've got all that stuff. Just wondering on what people took when they met the pups. Edited June 12, 2013 by LisaCC
Steph M
Jack I'm not picking him up, just picking him out! Few more weeks to go still! Also thanks for the info, but I've got all that stuff. Just wondering on what people took when they met the pups. I didn't meet ours, but might be nice to take some bikkies or a cake to share with the breeder and have a chat? I'd have loved the chance to have a cuppa!
cassie
Most importantly - camera!!! :D I'd take a small blanket or old tshirt that has your scent on it. Ask the breeder to leave it with the pups until you do take your's home. Then it'll have the dam and littermate's scent on it too for a bit of comfort when pup comes home :)
JackC
Ahh i see, I didn't take anything apart from my camera when I saw Koda each week from 4weeks to 8 weeks old, although I guess I did see him for a good 2 hours each week and make sure he saw me each time. LisaCC
Jack you are lucky you got to go see him so often! I'll be going out Saturday and then not again till I take him home. Steph i've already been out and took some banana cake and had a cuppa last December when I met the breeders dogs and set up, but yep I'll take something out again this time too, thanks for the reminder! Thanks Cassie, thats what I thought just making sure I got the info right :) So you would go blanket over a stuffed toy? Yep definitely a camera! Lots of photos to come!! If I was spending that long at the breeders house I would have definitely taken a token gift, even just the first time, if not a piece of afternoon tea or something each time. General manners about visiting someone's house, really :)
whippytails
Whippytails, are there any colours that tend to do better in the show ring? Or any that aren't allowed? At the moment it seems that reds are the flavour of the breed so to speak but I am after a blue or a black. If there is something totally show stopping in another colour thats ok, but those to are my top picks. I would dearly love to import a cream as we dont seeem to have the gene here to create them. Sounds like you are all set for your puppy picking out day Lisa but maybe a small blankie to leave with the pups that you can use to take your pup home with. LisaCC
Oooh I've never seen a black whippet before. Hope you get what you are after Ok so seems a blanket it is thats nice and easy. I agree minimax, I like to take a little something when I go out. Just being an enabler and all but Horseland has 25% off Weatherbeeta dog products, and 50% off one of the fleece jackets. Good time to get one of their braided collars! Edited June 12, 2013 by LisaCC
