Ah! I am having the feeling of doom as well. I know we're as researched and organised as we can be, but I look around and think 'good heavens what are we doing?!'

Now we're over the 4 week old hump it feels like it's tearing toward us at a great speed.

I've been shopping madly and we're done, have a bed for the OH's office on the way, a few diff sized collars and an LED collar light and a brush on the way, but that's it for us for a while, aside from food which can wait til we know what we're feeding.

Here's our little stash so far;

Had to share this as well, never been the maternal type, but watching Brooke set up a puppy gate with the help of Rufus the cat was just the loveliest thing. He's quietly excited, as opposed to my overt and excruciating joy. Haha.

Watch the wooden puppy gates, wood is yummy for puppies to chew on and can create bad habits that are hard to break. That's why the metal puppy gates and compost cages are so popular :)

It's been just over a week and it feels like Raiden has been here a lot longer. He just blends into the household so well. We also had a huge breakthrough two whole days without weeing in his crate :D only for me to stuff it up by sleeping in and he couldn't hold on any longer. I'm having a little worry about bonding as it feels like it isn't strong especially when he gives me an akita stare and runs away when asked to come along.

Sorry I haven't been on much and I've yet to catch up on the news.

Yeah he knows how to sit now and he will also come when called when the stars and the planets are aligned or I have a piece of steak in my hands :p he also is a good loose lead walker. I just don't know I think I am expecting too much from the poor little guy.

This is our 3rd day and I know what you mean about the bonding. I think it's just the stress of no sleep and the crying (him not me, yet  ). Do you have adult dogs Lhok? Is he settling in with them?

the bonding thing is kind of bothering me... I can't get time off work so my partner who will work from home the first week or two with him will get to spend all the time with him :( I guess I'll just have to overload in the morning, evenings and weekends. I will probably drive home from work each day at lunch time too - I only work in Alexandria so about 15 mins in good traffic door to door.

Bonding takes time, but it happens :) It takes a little while for pup to realise he's in his forever home with his forever family. He's just spent 8+ weeks (his entire life) with other dogs and people :)

Very true. I guess I'm just typical gen y - need/expect everything to happen yesterday!

I can't wait to get him home - have been look forward to this moment for years - we lived in London during 2010 & 2011 so had to wait until we knew we were happy and settled in Sydney to even think about getting our little pup.

No I don't have any adult dogs, Miss passed away just before we got Raiden. I also think it's got something to do with the fact I have no idea about puppies, I got Miss at 18months old she was housetrained and had basic obedience too so with Raiden not only is everything new it's also confusing for both me and him, Hence why I think I am expecting too much from him.

Cassie about a name for your guy Mr Smooshyface is still available :p

It takes me awhile to bond with a new pup, it's the stress and that feeling of being abit over whelmed with it. My pup is now 10 months and there is definitely a bond there and it strengthens every day. Don't worry it's normal and will happen.

Sorry to hear about Miss Lhok. :(

Puppies are definitely overwhelming. Moose was only a puppy 4 years ago but I'm still as confused as ever with Nacho, don't worry.

Moose is definitely most closely bonded with me (he's my heart dog) but he loves my parents as well and sometimes prefers to snuggle up to my dad rather than me. You'll still bond if you're not with him all the time smash but you might bond at different levels. It's only natural. :)

The bond will happen!!!

I had a dog that had had NUMEROUS homes before I gave her her last home. I had 7yrs of the most devoted and attentive dog you could ask for. And protective? Wow. There was no question she was my dog.

Dory is a rescue dog...and again...there is no question she is my dog. Everyone comments on how she always knows where I am and she doesn't like it when I leave. (She's gotten better at that. :) )

Which puppy preschool do you run Dory?

Welcome to the wait Lee-Ann! A friend of mine has a Min Pin and he's a really great little dog :) I'm not a little dog person in general but I have a soft spot for these guys :)

2 more sleeps!!!

Down at the Grange Vet Clinic, Grange. We just started a new class, I can see if we still have room if your interested.

I'm sneaking Willow in for the last couple of weeks, and then she'll do the whole of the next class. Mind you, she'll be at work with me on all my long shifts until she gets too big and I learn to cut the cord a little bit.

(She's not even here yet...and I can feel that cord already. )

Impressive stash, Steph!!!

I think I'm reserving all my spending ways till Willow gets here. I have a total of 3 toys, a puppy collar and an almost endless supply of tennis balls (thanks to the kids next door...we usually give them back, not sure how many are going to survive after Willow gets em, before we do. )

Oh...and the two cats and Dory. I keep telling them to enjoy the peace and quiet while they can.

LOL cute!

We had a similar set up when Miah came to live with us, it was set up just outside of our bedroom in our laundry which is straight off our bedroom, so she could see at us at all times. We had a nightlight on too (in the bathroom) which leads into the laundry.

She's now progressed onto our bed embarrass.gifbiggrin.gif
