Melina Bea
4 sleeps!!! Haha Smash I'm always right behind you :p Welcome Kuuki, and thanks Moosepup - I'll get some cable ties. Tikira, thanks for sharing that lovely poem! Unfortunately I don't think I can even remotely say he picked me. His sister would go crazy for us, but he only tolerates us... until he lets us know he's had enough and wants to be put down. I'm a bit worried, TBH
tikira
Hi Melina Bea. Your boy sounds a little independent, Tip was incredibly independent, but he also idolised us. Yes he told us off if he thought we were trying to "force" him into doing something he didn't want to do, but would do anything for us if he decided it was in his best interest (especially if we had food or toys as bribes). Thus we learned quickly how to make it look like it was his idea. It is a natural feeling to worry about bonding, but try not to, your boy will soon think that he chose you, and trust me when I say that you will have a bond as strong as any you have ever felt. :) We too worried about the exact same thing, but we shouldn't have,he ended up to be exactly what we needed. Good luck to all those counting sleeps, I know I am getting excited for you all, and can't wait to see photo's and hear of your experiences during the settling in period. Dory the Doted One
WELCOME, New Fellow, Will the Wait Ever End.......Prospective Puppy Parents. :D Melina you have no need to worry about bonding with your new baby. It will soon be like he never knew anyone else except you. I've had loads of adult dogs, at various ages and even puppies that were a little older when I got them. Couldn't have asked for a more loyal bunch. And Dory, who was older when I got her, while she is easily bought with food and will now prefer to stay home with my Daughter if I'm going out (major separation anxiety breakthrough there!!!). Is still VERY much my dog. She only chooses to stay with my daughter because she knows I will come back. Because that is her routine. She still follows me everywhere and if I'm home and go to my room and close the door she will sit by the door till I let her in. Even if my daughter calls her. She can stand to be away from me. She does ask to go outside and will stay out there for a few hours at a time. (More separation anxiety breakthrough!!! ) Still don't have an ETA on my puppy. Melina Bea
Lollipup - YAYYY!!! When do you get to see her/him?? Tikira & Dory - Thanks for the reassurance. I've only had cats before and the last thing I want is a dog who thinks he's a cat! Steph - Tumblr users unite! My boy is supposed to have his first round if shots tomorrow. I'm calling the breeder the day after to check how he's doing. Now that the time is almost near, I keep thinking of little things I haven't prepared yet. Hopefully they'll keep me from crawling up the walls! :D

Lollipup
Melina Bea, I'll definitely be driving down end of June when pups are 7 weeks to find out which one I am getting/choose with the breeder. But I might try to do a trip before then to see them if I can fit it in. Then back down at 8 weeks to bring him/her home! Time is flying because I have so much on. About to move in less than 2 weeks. Glad that will be well out of the way before puppy time!
