Waiting For A Puppy This Thread Is For You

So I just heard back from the breeder that has just had the puppies. In all honesty, I don't like the look of any of their dogs very much, they're um.... much smaller and less magnificent looking than the other breeders I have been in contact with. So I nearly died when they told me how much their pups are - nearly twice what everyone else is asking! Needless to say, I won't go with them.

Oh, I didn't know this thread existed! I'm waiting for a Finnish Lapphund, not sure exactly when s/he will be coming home yet - waiting to hear on pregnancies  I've only had Labs in the past (and a weird little JRT when I was a kid), so this will be a new and hopefully wonderful experience. With any luck we'll have ours by January/February, so a fairly long wait but something excellent to look forward to

Oh man, well there you go! Lucky you didn't like the look of them then! To me though, I can't tell the difference between any Akitas on the litter pages  Probably the same for you and Vallhunds though.

You should go over to the Spitz thread and tell them the news, I'm sure everyone would be enthralled and start pushing their litters towards you  They're nice folks over there and you might be able to start socializing with some of the breeders--there's quite a few on that board whom are regular posters! Oh, no Dju these ones really are a bit sad looking to be honest. Definitely nothing like any of the Akitas I'm after! I was too quick to jump onto my email before checking out her website first  . Though you're right, Vallhunds look the same to me  (All gorgeous though!!)

It's funny. Christmas is so close. My family have been asking me what I want, and I've made a list of show stuff for when my puppy gets here! Nothing for me! I haven't really 'introduced' myself in this thread, as I've just been researching mostly for months, but now it's getting closer and it's kind of sinking in more that I really will be getting a puppy! So anyway, yes I'm hoping I get a beautiful Samoyed puppy early next year sometime, if all goes to plan. :).

Thanks for the link Dju! *bookmarked* Lol.

We will be getting a puppy very shortly. My partner and both work, so I was wondering where should we keep the puppy during the day until we get home? We have secure fencing and plenty of toys but I feel funny about leaving an 8 week old puppy outside on his own when we aren't home.

Is it safer to have a secure room for him with food, water, his bed and loads of toys  ? This won't be for long as soon my partner will be taking him on the road with him as he is a tradie.

After 2 years of research, during which we spent 6 months searching and waiting for a litter - we finally found a breeder who has a female Japanese Spitz pup that'll be able to come home with us in... approx. 6 weeks!!

So excited - I just went on a shopping spree buying different collars, crates, playpens, toys; asking friends with pets to recommend vets within our area and enjoying every youtube puppy training video there are out there in preparation of our new baby!!

Skipping up and down the house does not hide my excitement!! Hubby thinks I'm a little crazy!

I can totally relate. I haven't even got a puppy lined up yet and I've already bought all the toys I could possibly need! Now I'm thinking... when it comes to the time I have to wait for the puppy I will have no shopping to keep my occupied because I've already done it!! :)

Here's to hoping the next 6 weeks go quickly for you!

I found a breeder 30 minutes from my home who has a litter of border pups, I've asked via email to buy one but she wants to wait to see if she'll be keeping any of them herself. The suspense is killing me!!!!! Another 4 or 5 weeks (pups will be about 7 weeks then) before I know if I can get one! And I haven't even seen the pups yet!

There are 3 females, so she'll probably have one she can't keep but I keep worrying that they'll be sold to someone else because I don't have a definite answer on if I can get one if she doesn't keep them!

Anyway, I have't gone on a shopping spree yet, due to not knowing exactly if I'll be getting the dog. Just bought this cool name tag, hand made with watch parts...

Definitely! I've wanted a dog my whole life, so it will be very spoilt.

I got the tag from a a site called 'Etsy', it has a lot of work from independent artists and craftspeople.

This is the address for the shop I got the tags from > http://www.etsy.com/shop/asecondtime?section_id=5926115

They make lovely tags! Here is another cool etsy shop that I plan on getting a tag from.

Thought I'd better update to say that instead of having to wait until January at the very earliest to *maybe* get my puppy, I got in contact with a breeder who had someone pull out on him so he had one boy left.

So on Tuesday night I went to the airport and picked up the most gorgeous Akita puppy ever, 12 week old Kyojin.

Here's a photo of my handsome little (huge) man
