i was wondering i ended up getting a GSD she came with papers no upper price she was with papers no other choice not that we cared she was a pet not a show dog.

so can you please explain or share some info about it?

It doesnt make them unethical .

WA is one of the few states that doesnt require dogs to be sold with papers & you will find most of the top breeders followed this method. This followed on form the original method before limited papers where brought in.Until recently not all pups had to be registered either. Now all pups must be registered but they dont have to go with papers.

Other states have different rules & no it doesnt make your breeder unethical in any way in following there states rules & what was normal for that time.

There will never be a right or wrong answer for price difference but we have paid different prices for showdogs for many years & it has never been an issue to do so

The Canine Association of Western Australia Jess, they are the controlling body for purebred dog breeders in WA.

Different states have different regulations re selling with or without papers, seem to remember that breeders in WA do have that choice but check with the above Assoc. In Qld the price of the pup includes the papers.

Given that some states MAY STILL not all pups to go with papers. I was under the belief that now in all states, ALL pups must be registered and go with papers.

But charging $300 for papers is highway robbery and for that, I would definitely run a mile!!!

If the dog you are looking into is in WA, ring Dogs West and ask them the cost of registering a pup... That is what you should be paying, not $300.

It does not cost more to raise a pup with papers or a pup without. The only further cost is the physical payment for the registration for that pup with the papers. In Queensland, pup registration before 3 months of age is only about $30.
