becandcharch
I was clicking around lightroom trying some new things, then closed out of it. When I went to go back in a box popped up to which it said start new folder of something similar (I wasnt working on anything so didnt think it would matter) and now all my presets are gone! Sorry my description is very vague. Im terrible for clicking things without reading them. One thing I did was click on the 2 button also on the left side of develop down the bottom under history. Anyone know how to get them back?? The box that says lightroom presets (on the left in develop) is there but wont let me drop down as there seems to be nothing in there

tlc
wish I could help, Id be in a panic too if my presets were gone. Im sure someone will be along shortly to help, Kja maybe or Ashanali!!
kja
Don't panic. Lightroom stores them in a weird place, most likely not on your desktop. Here's where mine are and it may help you - or search for the extension .lrtemplate or even just .lr Computer -> your name -> app data -> Adobe -> Lightroom -> Develop presets ... this is on Vista, but it's pretty much in the same place on XP, too. Please Everyone - make a backup of your presets in Lightroom and your actions in Photoshop!!!

I posted the same question in a flickr group and was told to copy them into the folder you have posted above. I have totally made a mess now. Now under my presets it has a heap of folders called things like 15DC, 18DI, 247F etc. I think I have copied something in there that I shouldnt have and now I dont know which folders they are to remove them. I think maybe its the folder called lightroom previews that I shoudnt have copied??? Bugger! Im so lost
becandcharch
Just wanted to add that im heading out for a while so dont think me rude if I dont write back till later!
kja
The easiest way to find things is to do a search on your hard drives for the file extensions. That will show you where they are and then you can copy them to another folder. It would be very weird if LR deleted them when you didn't tell it to. They are probably there somewhere, just have to find them :D
tlc
Is it possible to uninstall it then just do a complete reinstall from the disc? Just grasping at straws, hope you get it sorted!!
kja
Let's find the files before we start ripping its guts out - this should be a pretty easy fix :D Edited January 17, 2010 by kja

becandcharch
Ok I really dont know (of care anymore!) why but the presets are now on the right hand side. I dont know if they were always there as well as the left but all I care about is that they are back! I missed them!! Thanks again for your help kja. Really appreciate it
kja
Hmm, mine are on the left. No idea why they are on the right, but as long as they are there! So glad you found them - now back up that folder on an external drive!!
