persephone
This nest has been used for two years- this is its third The wasp pair are redoing a doorway/tunnel with fresh mud..they have 'bricked over' an old entranceway. I was fortunate enough to witness a mating too They have to be careful of just where they put their stings! Luckily these guys are not at all aggro..I can get very close . Oh- it's the male with that glorious yellow patch on his head. Edited January 14, 2010 by persephone
barkon
Cool pics!!! We have a new nest right next to the back door, seems a shame to 'move' it, so will most likely leave it there for a while. They are incredible insects.

persephone
I like having them around- they are much more 'trustworthy' than the feisty paper wasps!
