kritta
May not be anything though but worth a check, my girl walks the same way (like a pacer) always has and vets have never found anything wrong with her (she's 9). He's gorgeous by the way.
RAH
2 of my dogs waddle the same way, they are cross breed dogs but they can run just fine with no problem at all. Gina
Monah
Dont' freak out if it is HD. Firstly get him checked properly, this will require an xray and to rule out HD, you REALLY need to do this. As untreated HD is awful for the dog, painful, even though they may not appear to be in pain to us. IF it is not this, great!! and you will at least know he is fine. Hopefully it is not HD. If it is, there are many many treatment options and drugs that can give a dog a good quality of life and a long life and this can include very simple things such as no long walks or jumping and vitamins to other treatments, so don't be frightened. One step at a time. IMO he does need checking (I also have had experience of this). He is really adorable. Do everything you can to make sure he is healthy and comfortable. Tests can be expensive, but well worth it, ESP if they are negative Tyson is very special, a really lovely boy that anyone would be proud to own, one in a million :p xxxxx
Monah
Sorry, just to add, HD dogs often run fine, some may 'bunny hop' when they run though, depending on the severity of the HD.
OSoSwift
I don't think his wiggle bum helps, but he is pacing which accentuates how he his walking. He appears to toe in and be bandy legged, which would be ccentuated and make him waddle. My Rotti did this and whilst her hips were fine (she did have OCD of her elbows) she waddled because of he poor hidleg conformation. I wuld be going down te path of a thorough check up, then a chiro/bowen visit and go from there. Hopefully he is just a happy boofer with bandy egs and a wiggle bum! I was thinking along those lines too. Also the left rear paw seems to drag a bit at times, so I think something is affecting the movement, either nerve/spinal or hip displaysia being a possibility. If nothing shows up in the tests, Acupuncture might also be considered and perhaps some kind of training that can improve the gait. The other thing that might help is swimming, it might be a case of uneven muscle development.

Agility Dogs
Animal Options vet at Ormeau. http://www.animaloptions.com.au x2. My two are there every 3 months for a check up. I can't recommend them highly enough. Hope your boy is OK. It's easy enough to say, but try not to get ahead of yourself with worrying about what the problem is until you know what it is. Also, don't delay in finding out what it is.

skip
Yes I have been side tracked too by the bird clip. Tyson is a beautiful boy. What a lovely dog! I hope you find out if anything is worrying him. OT - And when I was looking at Tyson my computrr took me to a page where the vidoes on SkidBoot are. I have seen this dog before but didn't know the whole story. Tyson is in good company. rotts4ever
Tyson has a real waddle to his walk, has ever since he was a pup. I've never thought much of it but i've had people at the park comment on how he 'walks funny' and ask if there's something wrong with him. He only waddles when walking at a slow pace, he doesn't when he goes into a trot or run so i've been feeling realy guilty when I make him heel at my pace because it appears to be quite cumbersome for him. I took a video to try and give you guys an example. Does anyone elses dog walk like this? I was thinking it may just be because he was wide set back legs or something, I don't know. To me looks like a combination of pacing, tail wag and apprehension due to you pointing something at him to film. Pacing can be because of soreness but it is also common in unfit dogs or dogs moving at the wrong speed and habit. My dogs pace when I don't walk fast enough for them, as soon as I walk faster they gait properly. If your worried I would get a good muscle man to look at him first and depending on what they say then decide if you need at vet. If you need a vet get a referal from people who will recommend a vet good with hips/ Xrays etc and if an xray is needed make sure it is sent away for scoring (Dr Wyburn). You wouldn't believe how many times I have seen vets jump to the conclusion of bad hips even after they have viewed the xrays only to have the xrays scored and come back with no problems/ very good. Or how many vets don't position the dogs properly or the xrays aren't clear enough to be scored most of the time because they are try to xray the dogs while the dog is awake. Breeders of breeds that required Hip scoring before breeding(eg Rottweilers) can often refer you to a good vet for xraying and these vets used by breeders are often more competive, price wise, as well I have a girl that paces like that with her tail going a hundred miles an hour and she has 1:1 hips so get him checked out before you worry too much. He looks like a sweety by the way Cheers Lee
Bullbreedlover
Pacing is actually one of the easiest movements for a dog. It does not necessarily mean that the dog has hip dysplasia nor anything else wrong with it. The fact that your dog seems to toe in a little also may mean that he has a low centre of gravity point. He is only 2. Still growing and maturing. I am not saying that he does or does not have HD. No one can actually state that dogs have HD without xrays. Structually his leg bone joints may be a little out of line Pacing is mostly done by dogs that do move alot ie, working dogs, and is the most less tiresome movement than others. My male Bullmastiff paces all the time when he is walking. He is perfectly fine, has the most beautiful movement and I am not about to rush him of to a specialist. sas
I found this thread a bit odd....the dog is pacing....and? Dogs pace for all kinds of reasons....not neccessarily bad ones. If the poster is worried then off to the Vet...
