poodlefan
Google is my friend. I thought the dog sports folk would have stuff on this. ETA: I'd be wary of 40% protein diets for any breed prone to bladder stones. I reckon about 25% is right for anything other than an endurance athlete. Elfin
Thank you, poodlefan! Looks like I should be increasing my dog's protein levels... Are there any DOLers with racing Greys? I would be very interested to know what they feed.

I feed Artemis Power as kibble which I note has 30% protein. A lot of mushers seem to favour Eaglepack Power which is also 30% protein. I also feed plenty of RMBs. This is the Artemis Power analysis. Crude Protein (min)30.00% Crude Fat (min)20.00% Moisture (max)10.00% Crude Fiber (max)4.00% Omega 6 Fatty Acid (min)3.05% Omega 3 Fatty Acid (min)0.50% Edited January 13, 2010 by poodlefan
Elfin
It looks like I need to aim for between 30-40% protein. I don't think I am achieving this with the mostly raw diet (lamb flaps, lamb necks and chicken carcasses, and about 300g roo mince and a couple of tablespoons of pulped veggies/fruit) and a bit of Eagle Pack Holistic (which is only 23% from memory). I have had a look at a couple of high energy kibbles and they all seem to have corn in them, which gives one of my dogs baaaaad diahorrea.

That's why I feed it instead of the Eaglepack I also prefer that it has a range of meats in it. Ingedients: Chicken Meal, White Rice, Chicken Fat (Preserved Naturally with Mixed Tocopherols, Vitamin C and Rosemary Extract), Lamb Meal, Dried Beet Pulp(Sugar Removed), Ground Brown Rice, Fish Meal, Flaxseed, Brewers Dried Yeast, Dried Egg, Salt, Glucosamine Hydrochloride, Potassium Chloride, Lecithin, Garlic, DL-Methionine, Vitamin A Acetate, Vitamin D-3, Vitamin E, Riboflavin Supplement, Vitamin B-12, Choline Chloride, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Thiamine Mononitrate, Folic Acid, Ascorbic Acid, Biotin, Inositol, Dehydrated Kelp, Chelates of Zinc, Iron, Manganese, Copper and Cobalt, Potassium Iodate, Sodium Selenite, Sage Extract, Aspergillus Oryzae Fermantation Solubles(Digestive Enzyme), Enterococcus Faecium and Lactobacillus Acidophilus(Probiotics). If you wanted a protein boost, you could add a couple of just raw meat meals a week. I find that useful to put weight on my Whippet. ETA: Another option is Artemis Maximal which has no grains and is around 40% protein. I'd not feed it as an every day food but it could be a good addition to an otherwise raw diet. (and, no I don't work for Artemis. ;)) Edited January 13, 2010 by poodlefan

If you're in Victoria (or indeed most places) Pookinuk will deliver as much as you want to your door for $5. That's where I get mine. I'm guessing you'll be getting through a bag faster than me though! (Please note: Poodlefan does not work for Pookinuk either ) I just remembered that Keshwar and SSM tried Artemis Power and it gave their dogs the squirts. It might be worth contacting Artemis for a sample first. Edited January 13, 2010 by poodlefan
