Nevafollo
Hey all, I have never had a dog trailer before and none of our dogs have been in one but we are picking up our first trailer this week, we are pretty excited, but I am worried about the dogs. Does anyone have any tips on how to make it enjoyable for them so they dont mind being in there or do you think they will adapt to it easy? Mandalay
Gee Sammi that is a toughy some love it other loathe it............all my Pugs travel in the trailer with no problem as it is like they know they are with you if that makes any sense... But I started of with very short trips, or just letting them sit in it, in the yard and feed them in there, so they knew there was nothing to worry about!! Good Luck it is just like anything else once they are use to it then it is part of it all..... Oh one thing I did to to one of mine was they loved their crete and didn't mind going in it at all so I put the crete in the trailer for the first couple of trips..... yarracully
started of with very short trips, or just letting them sit in it, in the yard and feed them in there, so they knew there was nothing to worry about!! I would agree with Mandalay. When we got our first trailer I just parked it in the yard with all the doors and windows open and let the dogs explore it in their own time. Our first one had two dividing doors which allowed two berths on each side to open up into one long berth on each side. WIthin ten minutes the dogs were chasing each other in one door along the trailer and out the other door. Also feeding them in it so they learn that the trailer is a good thing. Nowadays whenever you hook the trailer up and open the doors it a race to see who can get in first. Open one door and before you get to open the second door ten dogs have all jumped in the first one. The only one that doesn't jump in is our oldest dog because I think he has worked out if the others jump in to one berth he gets the next berth to himself. Aspyre
Ours never worried at all, we picked it and went to Dubbo the first weekend we had it...lol We always give them something to chew on whenever they go in, might be the reason that they race to the trailer as soon as they see it and demand in You would laugh at Morgan's excitement when she sees us hook it up to the car They are usually ok as they can see each other through the bays. Hoping that it is not puggy sized and that poor Kite can fit

angelsun
When Angel came at 10 weeks old, we put her in the trailer with her buddy Samm...between him and her blanket and some toys, she quickly fell in love with the trailer. When my new girl comes from Canada, she'll have her inside house bed/blanket from her crate put in the berth and she should feel more comfortable. The crazies here rush to the trailer and we have to be sure to not leave the doors open or they will all try to crawl into a berth together...not a smart idea with full grown Shepherds! puglvr
Had no trouble with our pugs in the trailer. it is a trailer with big berths so 4 or more fit in each bearth quite comfortably. Our Deerhound is scared of thunder and gunshots so if any of these things are happening she goes and hops in the dog trailer.. it's her safe place. We leave a door open for her all the time.
