applejack
Hi all, have tried to do a search for this but havnt had any luck. We will be bringing home our Great Dane puppy in 4 weeks and are trying to decide on a bed for him. We are going to get a trampoline bed, but i also want a soft bed for him as well. Have been looking at the Snooza durobed and super tough bed. Has anyone used these? or if anyone can recommend any others? Obviosuly need to be XL -XXL size range. i just want to get some opinions before we buy one cos they arnt very cheap! specially in the big sizes! Red Fox
Snooza are supposed to be very good...but they are expen$ive! Try Great Rugs www.greatrugs.com.au they have a good range and do custom sizing too Reasonably priced too I've ordered from them twice (both custom) and had my beds arrive in SA in under a week ;)
SkySoaringMagpie
I found the fill degraded over time with washing with the Snooza. Might be different now. The Rrruff beds are lovely. We got a really large RRRUFF bed for our big old Afghan and he loved it. They do XXL sizes: http://www.rrruff.com.au/rrruff_mats.html Only trouble was keeping it clean, while you can wash them, they are thick and good quality and great dane sized anything usually doesn't fit in a washing machine unless you have a really big one. While I know I can wash beds in the bath old school style it's easier to chuck them in a machine. Pretty much the standard beds we use now are the polar fleece ones we buy from show vendors for secura pens. I think Great Rugs sells them: http://www.greatrugs.com.au/ Easy to chuck in the machine and you can double them up if you need extra padding. SwaY
I have a couple of snooza's for mine - yeah they are ok. You need to slide the zip open a bit to help let the air out, otherwise they end up like a big balloon. But mine much prefer a cot mattress or a single bed mattress. I also have a couple of 4yr old Rrruff beds - still going strong.

Danois
Hi Appplejack - come join us in the dane thread and tell us all about your puppy! We like new dane puppies a lot! I have a Masterpet Serenity bed -http://www.masterpet.com/australia/products/dog/dog-bedding/serenity-bedding/moscow-cushion-choc-large in the lounge for Boo which is great. I have had it about a year now and it is still soft and not flat. I just unzip the cover and throw it in the machine. When Boo was younger, I slipped a waterproof mattress protector inside just in case but never needed it! In his crate (where he sleeps during the day - door is open) I have half a single foam mattress from Clarke Rubber with a cover on it. I am looking at the D1000 as he needs a bed in the bedroom now as he is choosing to sleep on the floor some of the night. My ultimate bed for him would be the LoveSac beds but they are very expensive. Am not a fan of the trampoline beds for danes.
Guest bigdogg
i have two 40kg dogs.. not massive by any means.. but instead of paying big money for a dog bed i just looked around at gararge sales and picked up a 2nd hand couch for $30.. Pigdogs on a lounge.. lol Just a thought anyway..
Kirty
I bought a massive bed (its about 1.2m x 90cm) for my dogs and currently all four can squeeze on (Lab x, BC x, Greyhound puppy and Great Dane puppy). I got it at the markets for about $40. My dogs destroy everything so it isn't worth me spending big $$ on beds. This one has several covers on it because they keep ripping them! LOL! corrie
Love the Snooza D1000 for durability and comfort. I have bed destroyers here but it has been a very tough bed. The only thing I don't like about this that the dog hair really sticks to it. I vacume over it when ever I vacume the house but you need a good power head on your vacume to get the hair off it.
