Agility Dogs
I have a flyball brag! Ahsoka made her return to flyball after her pad injury and despite her fitness being less than pre-injury' she smashed her PB by over a second! She is only a few points away from her Flyball Champion title! Jedi had his first race in a competition even though he only started doing full runs 3 weeks ago! He was also awarded Judge's pick of the division!!!!!! Goooo Jedi! AWESOME WORK!! We had a dreadful weekend (or at least I did - the puppies were really good.). Xena got one card on Saturday night for Open Jumping which finished off our Aust Jumping Dog title (7 jumping Cards that have not been used for other titles). Then Xena and her mate got first in the pairs event and CK and his mate got second. Other than that I think we eliminated on just about everything - I was off with the fairies and kept making basic mistakes. Oh well, at least they were quick and we can go off to our CCCQ trial this weekend and do some remedial work on a couple of simpler courses. xena98
Jess had her first shot at open today... and she was off with the fairies. Heel free was a bit disgraceful and she obviously forgot there are stewards in figure 8 because she cut it to go say hello! everything else was pretty good, then broad jump (why why why did I pick broad jump?!?!) she jumped it well and then forgot about me and stiffed the corner of it . She never does well on the german shepherd club grounds! But it's all good, I didn't even think we'd make it to open this year! ;) Congrats to everyone else! hey DSO which judge did you have yesterday. I was in Anne's ring with Gabby and Inka and both of my dogs did that had a good sniff in the corner but they did it quickly lol
grumpette
I have a little brag. Dee and I started trialling in late June in CCD. Our first trial and pass was at the Rotty Club Resticted trial with a score of 86 and 2nd place. Our next pass was the next day at Broadmeadows with a score of 89 and 6th place. Our third trial was at Geelong and resulted in a score of 82 NQ The afternoon trial was a better result with a score of 83 and a 4th place. Our first trial in Novice (CD) was this weekend at the State Obedience Trial at KKC Park. We obtained a score of 178/200 and a sixth place. Very happy with this as her heeling was much better than the Geelong Trial. I left her at the post for the stand for exam this time. For her CCD trials I kept leaving her at the post for the recall. Handler error on my behalf. A breakdown of her scores on Saturday are Heeling 31/40, stand for exam 23/30, recall 36/40, change of position 28/30 and 30 each for the sit and down stays. The Sunday trial was an absolute disaster. We got 5/40 for heeling and zero for the other exercises. She had lots of fun. Stole the judge’s marker. Alternated between hesitant on the take offs and absolutely manic with boundless energy while working and between exercises. She did the stays perfectly though. Oh well there is always the next trial, which will be Sunbury at the beginning of September. Heeling Lost her a bit on the left about turn Got her back Not sure what is happening with the sit

grumpette
Thanks RubyStar she does look like she is head butting me. I am really proud of my girl. She has come a long way. She was 7 months old when the fires happened, and she got attacked by roaming dogs on three occasions whilst we were out walking onlead. This caused her to be nervous around lots of people and she became DA and hypervigilant while walking on lead. Obedience training over the last 6 months as increased her confidence in me as a leader and her confidence in herself.

He is still very much a beginner, but it was fun to give him a race! It's been an interesting road with Jedi - at his first flyball training session he did a full run without the ball... And I have spent the last 9 months convincing him that the name is flyBALL for a reason!!!!!! He FINALLY got it 3 weeks ago! He has the most beautiful box turns but I have just been focusing on him getting the ball... So now I just need to remind him of what he's supposed to do on the box. I only have photos of Ahsoka from the weekend... But this was her debut race back when she was doing 6.8 second runs.... She clocked a 5.6 second run on the weekend

(You don't need a BC to play flyball, you just have to be able to beat one......... ) I love BC's and am not likely to have another breed (unless I can convince OH to let me get a working Kelpie ), but I really love seeing dogs you wouldn't normally associate with a sport playing it and having fun!! AWESOME.

AWESOME. Absolutely, I get quite excited when a beginner comes to our club with something that isn't a working dog. We have a husky in beginners at the moment and a girl with a doberman will start when she has achieved sufficient obedience. We have a whole bunch of staffies who are great entertainment and a couple are seriously fast. At the nationals last year it was great seeing dogs like the whippet, husky running and especially the flying mophead (Puli). It is a pity I will have to wait until next years nationals to see Ahsoka and Jedi running. On beating the BCs we have a lab who runs in the mid to low 4s and my labXGR is down to 4.7s and getting faster with each comp so hopefully when we get back to competition here in VIC I will be here bragging about new PBs.
