hehe - I will still mainatin, with my DYING breath that they are NOT French

And I will chain myself to a suitable edifice in support.

The French may have popularised the smaller poodles and are largely credited for developing the white poodles but they are German in origin. Even the name is a derivative of the German "pudel".

That was my understanding as well.

Now when I think of it, the country in the FCI listing is not the country of origin, but the country that maintain the standard.

Tibetan breeds are listed under UK.

To plagarise Sting, the Russians love their poodles too. They get the credit for developing the browns. Chances are any small dog in a Russian city scene may well be a poodle. Vladimir Putin owns one.. as did Katherine the Great. Some bloody gorgeous poodles there.

Some breeds you can definitely see how and from what they have developed.

Nice to see GSD that looks like it has power in its hind quarters and not like it has something stuck up its bum! Bring back Rin Tin Tin!!!

The GSD is standing up on an incline, its back legs are longer that its front legs, the GSD in this picture would not / does not have a straight back.

:)
