Breed Specific Dry Foods - Rottweiler

Hi All,

Just looking for some opinions on the breed specific dry foods on the market for Rottweiler's - in particular Royal Canin and Eukanuba.

Is there any benefit to feeding these dry foods or is it all just hype?

Some of it does come down to hype...but for example RC's Lab food is low GI, and the kibble is a bigger then average size to help stop them hoovering up the food. The GSD food has no wheat, and is again a decent size kibble for a larger breed dog. The adult ranges of the breed specific foods can be used into the dogs old age without having to change foods as well.

I've put dogs onto these foods and watched them get over skin issues, intestinal issues etc etc where even the normal range didn't quite sort everything out. I personally think they are worth trying, tho if your dog is prefectly healthy with no health/skin/tummy issues then i would say it comes down more to choice.

Not for a dog, but I buy Royal Canin Maine Coon food for my Maine Coon cat. Most cat kibble is tiny and the RC breed specific one has larger pieces for the bigger jaw of the Maine Coon, and they are also an easy shape for their rectangular jaw to chew. Plus it contains extra goodness for their much larger than agerage frame.

Does it make a difference? Well, she likes it but she's just as happy to chow down on Dine kibble from the supermarket (she's a slut for the dried fish pieces it contains) and the Burmese brats eat the Maine Coon food as easily as she does.

I curerently use Eukanuba large breed anyway as I find this works best so far - was just wondering if a switch to the breed specific would be of any benefit.
