altheau
Just thought I would tell everyone cause i am so happy. ;) This morning when I took my dog for a walk she offered up a great loose lead walk, infact she even walked for quite a bit with her shoulder at my leg (so not in front) and I was not even walking fast. I know that alot of people probably think this is not much, but for me it is fantastic, especially since we got jumped by three swfs on Saturday (lots of barking, right in her face, I almost tripped over on of the little buggers they where that close) and she walked away calmly from that one as well (normally there would be hackles and uncontrollable wiggling after we got past) she gave me a great sit just down the road of the incident as well, just looked up at me with her typical dork expression (mouth open tounge out ;p) super calm (my heart was going ;p) I know that we have a long way to go to get it perfect, but this morning was such a great step in the right direction! Merry christmas everyone, have a good one, I have already got my best pressy

Well done - sounds like you have worked all year to give you dog a present as well - security/confidence.
Erny
Altheau. These marvels are just that ..... marvels. And those with dogs who have worked at improving their dog's behaviour and training understand fully that these sorts of things are NOT trivia. They are milestones amongst the many that we seek on our journey with 'dogs' . And yours is not just a small milestone either - the distraction of other dogs (especially other dogs who aren't particularly pleasant) is quite major . Well done, and congratulations on the milestone that you have achieved. Merry Christmas and wishing you many more milestones in the New Year ;) Edited December 23, 2009 by Erny
spottychick
altheau - that's NOT minor - it's fantastic. I know what it's like to have a dog that behaves like an idiot on lead etc and how fantastic it is when they "get it". It means also that you know you'll be able to teach him other things - and it means the connection between you two has taken a big leap. Great stuff!
