SeeGee
Hi team, I have come to realise that Charlie only wees when we are home...which means he holds on until we come home....which means its kinda worrying. We never leave him home alone for too long though.....2 - 5hrs. Does anyone else's pup do this? When we get home we go outside with him and wait til he wees, or else if we get home and have to go straight to the toilet ourself we come out and he has wee'd on the tiles inside. He has access to inside and outside when we are gone. We feel kinda baffled as 99% of the time he goes outside when we are home, just when we go out it all goes a little crazy. He is 7 month male beagle desexed. Thanks Jacqui
poodlefan
If he has inside/outside access, how do you know he's not going outside when you're out? ;)
SeeGee
Feeling pretty dumb....good point. I guess it feels like he is busting to go everytime we get home that we have assumed he is holding it.......I feel a little silly!!!

poodlefan
So more than excited peeing then? Maybe he IS holding it. Or you're waking him up and he's too excited to go out and miss greeting you. Does he take himself out when you're home?
SeeGee
yes, when we get home he is always awake, so if he was asleep the key in the door would have woken him (always does, without fail). He does generally take himself outside when we are home, we do still have the occasional accident. (thank you for ur help with this poodlefan, i really appreciate it!) poodlefan
OK, dumb question time. If you came in via the back door? would that bring him out into the yard when he first sees you? Is that feasible?
SeeGee
noooo We cannot even access the back door from the front (long story, inclusive of wheelbarrows, broken fences and a very very strong sturdy gate.... Is there someway to encourage him to wee whilst we our out....thats kinda silly isnt it - cant encourage if we are not there *sigh* im just worried that one day we will get caught away for a l onger period of time and he willg et a bladder infection or something ;)
