lovemymutts Posted December 19, 2009 Share Posted December 19, 2009 I know we are a bit behind here in SA & you probably already have them interstate but I was really excited when I went into town today & discovered vegetarian pigs ears!! Some people might be saying 'what's next?' but they are still a very good price & I never buy any pork products including pigs ears because I do not support the pig industry (factory farms) etc. So I was pleasantly surprised when they had these in the shop today! Alot of my friends will be glad to hear this too Brought some home for my babies & they all absolutely loved them, even my old boy who is a fuss pot!! Just wanted to let you all know & it would be a good thing to support too, rather than buying products from factory farmed pigs. Bring on more animal friendly products!!! Plus I get smoked products for next too nothing at the local market, and we catch our own rabbits. Why not give your dog bones. Kangaroo tendons, beef ears, beef tendons, deer ears, dried fish.... Personally I don't think its particularly "dog friendly" to feed manufactured treats when their are better options available. No.. plus if you really want to go into it.. what about all the roos/emus/wallabies/cockatoos shot for eating the wheat crops prior to harvest,and ducks shot with shotguns for wrecking the ricefields... They can also put together a sample pack with different products for you if you want to try a few things. Shipping is capped at $10 from memory too I recently found a butcher in the next town from me that specialises in Roo products so now buy from there. Mainly fresh meat for us- but they also do dried leg bones, jerky, tendons, hearts and liver very cheaply too. I'm very happy with their roo products, it's not a 'farmed' meat and there are strict regulations on how the roo is killed, transported, checked and cleaned They are 3 hours out of Adelaide and I'm not sure if they deliver or not but if you want their contact details feel free to PM me I've seen the Vegie pig ears before but tend to steer away from anything overly processed like that. But then I very rarely buy normal pigs ears either as they are also junk IMO.
