Hey guys,

Got an issue with fleas atm, they have appeared in our carpet lounge area and also in our hardwood surface in our bed room. I have spray surface spray to kill them in the lounge area, however not sure what to do with our bed room.

The dog is an outside dog and sleeps in the shed so I'm thinking I should treat the shed too just incase.. Dog is on advantix monthly so he should be good, I just wanted to make sure his sleeping area is clear too.

So far the only product I have found on the web is the mortine flea bomb that has IGR, since I have quite a few fish tanks in the house.. I cannot use it, so need some advice on it....

I am thinking of using the mortine flea bomb in the shed when my dog is not in there too. Is this going to be issues?

so the questions are.. what can I do/use inside the house that will treat fleas but won't kill my fishies and wether using a mortine flea bomb in the shed is ok for my dog afterwards..

Cheers,

yots.

Hiya,

I am a really big natural remedy freak.

If you just google- natural remedy fleas- you will find alot of idea for different areas (house, furniture, pets etc)

There is one site called Grandma's Home Remedies which is really good, and usually involves stuff you would already have in your home.

Good Luck!!

Cover the fish tanks in cling wrap before spraying. Make sure you turn off the pumps and remove any hoses etc that may prevent a good seal into the tank. Remove any fishy items (eg pumps, food etc) from the house and make sure you air the house before starting the pumps again.

We had no problems with the fish tank after setting off the bombs

If your shed is very well sealed with doors shut and has a concrete floor a flea bomb in there should do.

When we moved here the fleas were so bad stepping into the shed would COVER your legs with fleas in seconds. It was a dirt floor and we tried lots of things including spraying it with Malawash.

The only product that worked was one called Pestine (not sure of the spelling,so long ago) from the stock and station agents.

Its a powder that we spread all over the dirt floor.

It took a while as it does not seem to work on all stages of a fleas life cycle, but it did clear them in the end.

pestine poweder will kill fleas but is a bit pricey.

derris dust for the vegie patch is the same stuff... but half the price....pestine will set you back upto $20.00 and a trip to produce or vet shop.

derris is often in supermarkets...for $6.00 for the same amount.

Hey guys,

I took yesterday day off spend half the day cling wrapping fish tanks (bought a roll of the heavy duty stuff from bunnings), used a protector smoke thingi and a 3 flea bombs..

All me fishies are all good, short of having half the house ash smelling from the protector smoke bomb.. all went ok so far... wish I had the time to check this post yesterday but she who I must obey has had 2 sleepless nights.. one more and I would be spending time with Milo outside....

If the current situation doesnt improve, I'll check out home remedies and try some of the suggestions there too thanks. Will also look at the derris dust too.

Cheers
