dazmac
Hello all - My husband has long had a passion for becoming a dog trainer. I am trying to do some research to see what is the best place for him to go to start this process. There appear to be a few places that run courses. I was wondering anyone has any recommendations or suggestions? He works full time Mon - Fri so hopefully after hour options are available? thanks so much! ncarter
He could do some of the courses that Steve Courtney runs at K9 Force. You do them by distance education. There are also seminars he could go to. He is also on DOL as K9force I think thats him. Perhaps pm him. good luck Edited December 10, 2009 by ncarter
Kavik
There are two main organisations: NDTF - National Dog Trainers Federation http://www.ndtf.net.au/ Delta http://www.deltasocietyaustralia.com.au/ Both I think are based in Melbourne and do run distance courses. Delta courses are positive only, NDTF shows you how to use all methods.

melree
As someone who has the chance to have the course paid for by my work, I am after opinions as to which one to do. I attended the recent seminar for Delta in Sydney (I am from Melb) and have mixed feelings about the limitations of positive only.
Cosmolo
I would go NDTF- at east you can then choose after that what you will and won't use. Melree- are you allowed to use anything other than positive reinforcement techniques at the RSPCA?
