Blades.

Ok, here is a question for groomers, both professional and amateur.

Do you prefer ceramic blades or steel ones. I have and use both and didn't really notice any big difference.

So, what is your preference, and why.

I guess I am a tad bored right now.

with regards the finish I haven't found much difference

ceramic are supposed to stay cooler longer, so if you are nose to the grindstone then they might be the way to go

and obviously metal won't chip/smash when you drop them - not that you should get into that habit anyway

are metal cheaper? they are the ones I personally own, so I imagine they probably are....

Can I crash this thread and ask if anyone uses "generic" blades? I have a non-wahl branded blade which seems to go blunt after 1 use on one clean, blow dryed and brushed dog yet my Wahl blade is fine. Are all non-brand name blades this bad

We purchased some of the 'Shear Magic 10' blades with the ceramics.

We use Oster and Wahl clippers and these blades actually fit both clippers which makes life easier.

No difference in the finish but they do seem to run cooler and they are the same age as the Oster blade and the Oster metal blade is due for sharpening where the ceramic blade is still running well.

Shear Magic is also significantly cheaper.
