BobbyTheBeagle
How does one tell if your dog is too fat ? is there some kind of reference chart ? My dog is approaching 15kg, i've noticed that he appears to be fat around the chest region. I have a 1yr old beagle.. Thanks!!
Gretel
You could look at the standard weight of a beagle but what is right for one won't be the same for all. Some will be bigger than others and will, obviously, weigh more. If he is looking fat around the chest sounds like he is getting a bit porky :nahnah:
Tassie
I like to use body condition score charts like this 0r this. Actually, I think they're probably the same. Easy to do with a smooth coated dog - you have to use your hands as well as your eyes in a coated dog.
luckypup
i generally say if you can feel the ribs and spine slightly without having to push too hard (and obviously not seeing it protruding), then the dog is a good weight.

I agree with this, that's how I check mine are at a good weight.
