Silly Wandy upset her toe again this arve :mad and it was going so well.......Thats it!!! On lead for the next fortnight - no ifs or buts! And back on the rymadil.....

Oh noes :( I hope a fortnight's rest does her good. I know how hard it is to keep them quiet then when they look like they're ok, we ease up a bit!

I went retrieving training with both girls this morning. I was a bit cautious to let Ruby do anything on land (I had planned on doing water stuff only) but as the vet said I shouldn't restrict her exercise and she's been good this week, I let her do one land retrieve. So after a little bit of hooning around this morning, she still seems fine so I am crossing all my crossables it stays that way!!!! :crossfingers:

Funny he loves retrieving so much but I had not planned in trialling him in it - i will do the RAT tho next year when it comes in. Wont do a proper retrieving trial as i wont be able to touch a dead bird, i know myself but maybe someone else can run him.

I'll run him if you want to train him  Dead birdies don't phase me anymore.

Great news about Ruby RS  - wish I could say the same about Kenz oh well hopefully the physio helps.

Still looking good this morning without a hint of lameness thumbsup1.gif But she is now off the medication as her 10 days are now up so let's see if it holds up when she's "on her own" :crossfingers: It is still stiff though as she won't let me bend it as easily as her right leg.

Poor Kenzie :( I'm sorry that the crate rest isn't helping :(

The stiffness will take awhile to go probably :) the swimming is good for her - how much is a session at that doggy pool there by you??

I'm not sure, I've never looked into it, probably way out of my budget (which is $0!) This is when I wish I had my own swimming pool!! Anyone got one where they wouldn't mind Lab hair clogging their filter?

Do u think its heated?? I suppose it must be if its for hydrotherapy :) yip my budget is also tight atm and i went clothes shopping for winter so am now truly broke lol

ETA i got 2 tops, tracky pants for training and a warm jumper for doggy stuff, a long knitted jersey and some tights . Money does not go very far when it comes to clothes!!

That doggy pool wasn't to expensive from memory - a lot cheaper then what it costs here. Well physio has been and its not great news. Kenz has another 4 weeks of crating ahead of us :(. Then pending how she is doing we can gradually increase her exercise starting with leash walks only .

Sorry to hear that, ness :( Are they advising anything else (ie. medication, massage, etc) other than crate rest? It just seems such a copout to keep telling you to crate her. You've tried it, it's not working. Did you get x-rays (or ultrasound?) done with your specialist visit the other week? I'd be wanting more answers!

She is getting weekly cartrophen injections (but thats more to prevent further damage to her joints which is probably not causing the lameness at the moment).

She had lots of trigger points (both shoulders and opposite rear leg and back) which the physio worked on today so hoping that should settle it all down again.

Kenz had both xrays and ultrasound scans at the specialist. X-rays showed some slight degeneration in her elbow but nothing significant - might have been the result of the injury. Ultrasound scan showed some evidence of a chronic healing lesion in her right shoulder compared to the left but ruled out major biceps tendon damage.

Crate rest is the treatment for biceps tendonitis. She is very tight on that side compared to the left side.

Not really sure what else I should be doing - specialist said if she was still lame after 3 weeks of crate rest to take her back and we would talk about steroid injections or option b was going in and having a look and then doing surgery if necessary.

:(

Sounds like you're doing everything you can. Fingers crossed for some results after a further 3 weeks rest and physio sessions!

Rubystar their is a great dog pool in heathridge and its only 12$ for an hour, you can take your dog in etc

Thanks chicko. Heathridge would be a fair treck for me though

Just got the details of the one in Southern River, 5 minutes from me :) $6 for half hour so I think I'll be making an appointment or two! thumbsup1.gif

I was imagining a cost of like $50 :o

Edit: anyone know if humans can get in with doggies at the one in SR? It's called Aqua Doggies. Reason I ask is I can see Ruby wanting to get out and be silly. Can you go in with them at the one in Heathridge?

Edit 2: Nope, you can't get in with them at the one at SR, bugger!
