Mas1981
Has anyone here used Julie's Boarding kennels in Malaga recently? We need to board our girl for 2 nights while we move house and it's not going to be practical to go out to one in Canning Vale. A friend of mine used them and were very happy every time.
Mas1981
I'd love to do a camping weekend with dogs too, one day when mine is good at obedience and your is good at agility we'll go, okay RS? Should only take about 3 years for Trixie to figure it out :D Who said anything about them needing to be any good? I'll never get there at that rate Maybe next year I will entertain the idea of a camping weekend with the dogs in Geraldton. Keep your calendar open Amy and keep the training up, you're coming with The Geraldton show/trails can be alot of fun so it is definaitly worth considering and camping is availablle on the grounds for a few dollars so makes for a very relaxed weekend with like minded people. I use to go all the time, but petrol costs are a big killer these days as I usually use about two tanks of fuel with the van. One of Jenna's babies (well not still a baby) lives up there so it use to be good to catch up with her and her owners while I was there especially as she was one of the 2 that I was tossing up about keeping. So perhaps I will add your name to the list too, then! I definitely think it would be a lot of fun. I'd go this year if we could organise a group, but I think it's probably too short notice. And no worries Candice, if it happens you'll be sure to know! I don't own a tent either, nor a sleeping bag Oh, now your tempting me, I keep looking at my canine news and saying I can't afford to go and that it will clash with tracking. I do have a big three room tent, spare sleeping bags, air mattresses and could possiably get hold of another big tent or a couple of little ones(possiably) I think camping may only be available to competitors though as its on the competition grounds. Entries close next Monday, how many are interested? Perhaps we could car pool. Mmm camping/competing V tracking, I need more and longer weekends. If enough people are interested in camping with their dogs we could maybe arrange a DOLers camp somewhere in the not too distant future if we could find somewhere nice that we could have all the dogs at. I think a Dolers camp would be a great idea !!
ozjen
Okay for those DOLers interested in camping with their dogs I have come across this possiable option. http://www.murray.wa.gov.au/community/dwel...ampinglanepoole Keep in mind though dogs MUST be kept on leash at ALL times but the upside is that there are plenty of walk trails and scenic waterways. Don't know how much it has changed since I was last there many years ago but don't expect hot showers and flushing loos. I do have some extra dog crates that could be utilised for doggie quiet times to give owners a break from the other end of the lead or loo breaks but as it is a break WITH our dogs I am sure we will all end up doing lots of walking if we do it. ozjen
I had forgotten about the limit being 100ks with a trailer and sure enough got picked up by the Williams police on the way back from Albany....my speed....104!!!! I reckon they had nothing better to do that day!!! Only got a caution though thankfully.yep we dont speed either & we have 3 humans on average 6/7 dogs trailer.shit load of gear.car is on speed control because with the trailer we cant do 110 only 100 but still not 10 hrs Yep, I got picked up one time on the way to Geraldton just outside of Dongara for speeding, (just a little). I think I missed getting a ticket because Jenna was making such a hulabaloo at them that they wanted to escape the noise as quickly as possiable. She can be quiet intimidaiting when she wants to be as long as no one calls her bluff.

I'd be interested in both a trialling camping weekend and a DOLer one another time too I am however not ready to do Geraldton at the next one. Bit strapped for cash and Ruby isn't reliable enough yet to risk trialling at such a far away place! I want to get through Bunbury first and see how she goes ;) Doesn't Geraldton have a few trials throughout the year? Maybe one later in the year I'd be interested in doing! As for a DOLer camping thing, I'm up for that anytime! But its times like these I wish there was 2 of me, as I won't be able to enjoy a camping holiday as much with 2 dogs per 1 me. As much as I wanna camp with both of them, I think this will just be a trip for me and my special yellow girl :D

Know what you mean about the finances, if utilities keep going up I'll be operating by candlelight. With regard to the DOL camp, perhaps there might be spare people willing to give a hand with an extra Lab.
RubyStar
Oooh and I hope to be helping to puppysit and socialise the cute little fluffballs ;) Bugger that neither of us can make the 2 weekends, oh well, plan for next year perhaps? Millie can be a handful, if I walk away from her and she's tied up she goes bonkers. I think we'd all want a peaceful weekend :D I remember one time I had her tied onto a stake in front of my car while I was training Ruby quite a distance away (retrieving training) and all of a sudden I see this flash of brown streaking across the oval coming straight for me, dragging the metal stake at the end of the lead behind her She actually has done this twice. She can't handle not being with her mum :D Edited March 14, 2010 by RubyStar
RallyValley
I would be up for Gero but if we are carpooling in a manual I will be no help. :D
pie
Maybe next year, funnily enough I'm already going to Gero this April but it's for an engagement party, not fun dog stuff Hopefully by next year I'll have a new car, then someone can fit in with me (I can crate Mr Personal-Space-Issues, usually do because he gets cranky with Trixie on long trips anyway ). Ozjen - I couldn't believe that story about that woman on your trip over east, wow that's terrible!
RallyValley
Amypie excited for Wednesday? I am semi considering scratching Toby. He will be going so great and then I do something crazy like consider entering him in Novice Jumpers and he decides to become forgetful! I am thinking the first trial will be States or May 24th when I also have Lincoln in a confirmation show!!! (Anyone else showing on May 24th that can text me when Weimeraners are on? Lincoln will be Minor then.... how scary!!!)
pie
No More worried than excited, I know he can do it but he seems to just lose motivation in jumping! He gave up two or three times at the show n go (crap handling didn't help), but his agility round was great, got all the weaves, did every obstacle right (went a bit wide after the tyre towards a see saw but came back around). I thought it was the other way around - good at jumping, bad at agility! So... dunno, might just be a paid training run at this rate

I used to use them for my rabbits & birds, and wasn't really all that impressed with them. A friend of mine used to use them for his dog. His dog always came home with some sort of problem like kennel cough, & last time he collected his dog his dog & his bedding were all wet. I won't be sending Toby there. RallyValley
I will probably be a paid spectator! I am hoping the course is one of those super easy ones that is like a U shape and you just do the obstacles in a line Toby will run if its like that but its likely that he will refuse at the tyre. pie
Doesn't he like tyres? Do you have one at home?
RallyValley
Don't have one at home. Once we have done the tyre once he remembers it but that first time I have to lure him. However we may be going to agility tonight and I am considering making a tyre jump today.
mirawee
I thought it was the other way around - good at jumping, bad at agility! Abbey got her AD title in her first three runs, but took about 6 or so runs to get her JD title. She is now in masters jumping but still needs two more passes for excellent agility I will look out for both of you on Wednesday I didn't enter Banjo, forgot about it until the day entries closed So will just have the two Aussies in :D

However we may be going to agility tonight and I am considering making a tyre jump today. I made a scabby tyre jump with a PVC frame and an old bike tyre, if you get stuck I can take it to training at K9 tonight and you can borrow it? Don't know if you'll have time to get there though if you have training too.
RallyValley
I am may be going to Eden Hills. I will try make a trye jump from some stuff we have around. Thanks for the offer though Amy. If my state before going in the show ring is any indication I advise you not to drink any fluids on Wednesday!
