I've had Bear for a month today :kissbetter: that's flown by. I get to start taking him out later in the week, can't wait  .

Wow! A month

I have decided, until I can get to the vets to enquire about getting Hemis booster done early I am reluctant to take him out... Apparently on Sunday there were 8 cases of Parvo/Gastro at Midland vet...

Call me paranoid, but he only had his 6 and 12 week vaccs, and i dont know if they are fully immune until they have their booster at 15 months.

I have only given the Padster 2 puppy vax, next one will be at 12 months and then 3 yearly, or maybe just titre tested, will see.

RnH - Kyzer had his 2 puppy vacs and has not been vacc'd since, his Titre test came back with sufficient cover for Parvo when he was 1.

That's good to know! :kissbetter:

Bear had his first vaccination at 8 weeks then the second one a month later. I'm a little nervous about taking him out but he needs to get out and experience new things so it's a chance you have to take but I'm confident he'll be covered by his puppy vaccinations.

But remember you can bring parvo home on your shoes, car wheels & the list goes on.

BUT being vaccinated doesn't mean they still can't get it so its a catch 22 .

We had a dog over 24 yrs ago get parvo twice in 6 months ,that was when there was true outbreak, the area of issue was Willetton Sports Club ovals & Burrendah Primary/Willetton High School ovals(shared)

It had tragic consequences on many families .

Our girl was vaccinated & lucky due to being so on the ball we picked it up quickly .

I tend to believe the currents issues aren't anything more than normal & considering many vets label everything as parvo irrespective then it is hard to tell what is true parvo & what isn't especially when the results will always come back positive with alive vaccine.

The last "outbreak" we asked a number of vets & not one had seen any cases or heard via the vet sector of a true outbreak

Yes, I think the socialisation is critical too. Did you go to puppy classes Tiggy?

Thanks for that, it actually reassures me quite a bit... I was debating weather or not to just titre test him after his boosters..

Yes I had Mason vacc'ed as a pup and then titre 12 months later - he came back as covered too.

Muddy only had his puppy vaccs and was titre tested at 15 months with adequate immunity so he hasn't been vacc'd again. We are getting the older dogs their 3 yearly shots next week though so I might get Mud done just so he's on the same schedule as the others. He'll be 2 in April.

I was actually talking to Flyte and Brodie's owner at a show the other week and mentioned that I knew of Kenzie. I am completely and utterly in love with Flyte haha

Flyte took out Best in Show at the Collie and Shetland Sheepdog championship show on Sunday so he excells in several fields. He is a sweet fellow.
