Lab_Rat
Will introduce you to Lee - breeder of the said Dalmatian and I have handled others of hers too. I dont know anything about them - except they are a handful to handle :D I probably will be... I might have just taken on showing a little bitch, we will see how some shows go and make a decision from there :D Re the Western Classic - anyone going with Dalmatians on Friday night??? Rat Oooooh, nice!! Im "researching" my next dog - and wanting to get to know Vizslas and Dalmatians! I may come and annoy you CnR - hmmm, may even bring cake! Rat That'd be good! I was looking at her dogs on DOL last night, thinking the whole time Lee was a man, then when I saw her photo I was like "oh, of course, Lee is a lady" Duh Given their temperament, I guess they would be fun dogs to show!! Lots of enthusiasm and energy! Rat
Tiggy
Ouch Tiggy! What is a Show N Go ? Is it like a practice trial or something? Yep it's a practice trial :D . This one has obedience, jumping and agility. It's being run by the ACWA to raise money for the nationals.

mirawee
LabRat, what do you mean you are researching your next breed of dog? Banjo will be upset now as he was hoping you should get a pretty red/tan (show) kelpie bitch Amypie, you don't have to be a member of CAWA to enter the Show'n'Go. I am thinking of going down... am wondering whether to put Banjo in the Novice jumping, but it would depend on the course.
RoxyNHemi
Yep, Groups 2. 4 & 7 plus Goldies & Labs. I will be there definately for the goldies, but I think Goldies and Dallys could clash then! We will just have to wait and see. Happy to introduce you to Lee anyways! You will just have to remind me of your real name, cause it could be embarrasing... Hey Lee - meet Labrat... I am hopeless for names, so I am soooo sorry I cant remember

I heard a horrible story about a ridgie and a young girl Didnt know if it was a protective / or hound instinct thing..
Lab_Rat
Oh, that doesnt sound good!! Was that in WA?? I imagine in the wrong hands, and without proper socialisation Ridgies would be just as inclined to become antisocial horrors as any other breed! Dont get me wrong - I love the breed dearly, they are great dogs. They should not be aggressive in any way, but are a protective breed - I guess like most of the "big" breeds, Dobes, Rotties and GSDs. I would just like to have dogs that are more like our Kelpie - who welcomes everyone with a wag and a kiss, rather than treating everyone with suspicion . It does get quite tiresome :D ...Hell, I dont even know if I can be without a ridgy - just putting the research feelers out atm, like I said in previous posts, my girl is only a baby, so I wont be doggy shopping for quite a while yet!! I suppose theres also the in-bred variations in temperaments to think about as well, our current girl is way more suspicious than our last girl, and I believe boys are even less so than girls! I figure life is tooooooo short just to experience one breed too! Ever since I was a kid I have been obsessed with dog breeds. I remember a book I had with heaps of dog breed in it with stickers to stick near the appropriate breed. I carried it everywhere with me and could just about quote each breed and description word for word, think I wore the book out. Anyway all I wanted then was and English Springer Spaniel Things have changed a bit since then tho, dont think I live in the right place for a long haired huntin' dog! I still think they are beautiful tho! Rat
RubyStar
Why a chocolate? Come and have a cuddle with Millie, she really has eyes for people. She's a big smoocher ;) Though a bit psycho ;) I love my Labs, and think I will always have one (or two), but I agree, life is too short to just experience one breed! My next dog won't be a Lab for this reason :p They are still my #1 breed, though!!
