RubyStar
Thanks guys, corgis are pretty darn cute. Yep RS they are all corgis but the tri colour and the last puppy are fluffies (long coats) so they look a bit different.I myself am loving the lab puppy photos Ruby should have been on those toilet paper ads! I don't think I've seen tri colour or fluffy corgis before. Think I like the fluffies most! I think Ruby has missed her calling in life

RubyStar
So are Pembrokes long haired and tri colour? And Cardigan (is that right?) are short haired (of a certain colour)? It's Corgi education day
Mim
Nope both kinds come in tri colour and can be fluffy. Long coats are a major fault and recessive genetically so not hugely common. Before the docking ban came in the easiest way to tell the two apart were that cardigans have tails and pembrokes don't. If you see two side by side you can easily tell them apart though. Cardis have different heads, bigger ears with a different set, their front legs are wonky etc. This is a DOL members website http://www.trehilyn.com/a-gallery-of-corgis.asp If you scroll down the page she illustrates some differences. ETA: pembroke colours http://www.pembrokecorgi.org/colors.html cardigan colours http://cwcorgi.com/Aragorn/ColorRegist.htm Cardis get all the fun colours Edited August 18, 2010 by Mim

Today I have watched sooooo many youtube clips of obidience I think I finally have in my head what a good heel position looks like. Quick question though, in a front are points deducted if the dog touches you?
bedazzledx2
Glad she was able to help CC. You are welcome to introduce him to Brooklyn any time. He is great with other dogs. Well we had our training session with Kathy Kopellis McLeod this morning and it went very well indeed, so thanks for the recommendation everyone She says it is fear related, and to keep him away from off-leash areas for now whilst I work on calming him down around other dogs. He was actually ok with her big husky she brought along, but we came across a std poodle while out and he reacted more typically towards that, which was good as she gave me pointers for helping him. I'll take him along to her 'reactive rover' classes and should hopefully start to see some improvements with him soon. She said he was actually a well mannered dog over all, just scared when dogs get in his face. Be warned - I may be on the look out for willing people and calm dogs to help socialise him too

Yup ears aren't born erect but good strong ears will go up while they are young (usually before 10 weeks) whereas weaker ear leather may need some help or take longer. Daina has rock solid ears and hers went up very early. Muddy has terribly weak ears and needed to be taped many times on and off until he was about 6 months. Sarge was never taped, one ear went up between 3 and 4 months, the other one never went up and now the cartilage would have set so there's no chance. The ears can go all sorts of crazy during teething. Edited August 18, 2010 by Mim

I think Ruby should earn bonus points for targeting my crotch quite nicely with her nose They can touch you, but if they crowd you TOO much, some judges can penalise. And yep, saw the 2 Labs, but the majority were Goldies! Numerous handlers/dogs winning more than one year as well Edited August 18, 2010 by RubyStar

RallyValley
Might have to try find that one on youtube Bedzzled. Thanks for the answer RS, someone told me about a month ago that you lose points if the dogs touch you and I have been finding it hard to set a consistent criteria for Toby. It will be interesting to see how he progresses over the coming weeks/months and how long before you are allowed back to off lead parks.
