RallyValley
Lincoln just had his first proper training, his focus aready far surpasses that of Toby's around other dogs :D . Toby did some work too and now they are both crashed on the couch with me. How cold is it starting to get already? Wow you must have sped home . I hope the Instructor didn't mind me doing my own thing . I didn't want to be disruptive to the class coming in and out so I'll train on the sidelines and do bits and pieces in class when they're doing something I want to work on. I like how it's a small group and they didn't do any 'paddock bashing' . I only trained Toby for 10 mins, just some focus and drive stuff . The instructor didn't mind, I was worried about Toby distracting your dogs though with his barking! It was the first time I have trained Lincoln while Toby is crated and he didn't appreciate it. Lincoln was one of the poles in the figure 8 and kept his focus on me the whole time! Toby still couldn't do that! I was exhausted after lugging my crate back to the car, next time I might park on the drive like other people were doing.

ozjen
I don't have a cabana but won't bring Lincoln uness his new crate arrives because he is fast outgrowing the old one. Or if he is really well behaved this Saturday. It will be good to see Sophie and Cassie but Toby is in love with them so he might get a bit distracted. I have a spare chair I can bring and a few big tarpualins. If my new crate arrives I will also have a spare crate in case anyone needs one. I can bring a crate that Lincoln will fit into Oh and OzJen, do you have a Cabana? Nope, my old striped ones got a busted leg and there is one in no(wo)man's land (shed) but I'm not going in there because it's full of beasties. Probabaly disintergrated by now or been eaten anyway. Note to self, con adult son into clearing out my shed. Will look around and see how the prices are on Sat arvo, depending on how the bank balance is looking versus the bills waiting to be paid. One of the NSW friends will have Jeanette's old cabana to use.
RallyValley
I have an ancient one around, I will take it out today and see if all the parts are there and that it still sets up, if it does we can use it as a shade tent and to claim more space but from memory it won't do squat if it rains! I might come down Wednesday too with the cabana if it won't fit in my car at the same time as the crates. If not I will PM you Maureen to pick up numbers. Marmite
Hi All (also posted this in the Intros thread) I'm a WA first time fosterer of Moe (avatar), the Cairn Terrier X via Best Friends Animal Rescue. I'm not very experienced so will always be looking for advice! My team includes my 12 yo son and my partner. Moe's 3yo and apparently was a pup shop buy for a 13 yo girl. Once the cuteness factor wore off he spent the next two years ignored in a back yard. So, he's not trained, can be mouthy, wants to top dog and is very poorly socialised with others dogs. He didn't even know how to play...how sad is that. BUT he's a great dog, is coming along really well considering we've only had him a week. Anyway, the socialisation thing is the biggest worry...we've had one bad introduction with best friend's dogs which was probably my fault, had him too tightly restrained on the lead and he got really aggressive. Since then about 4 slow and gentle introductions with other dogs in park. Sitting by them, chatting with owners and then letting him go to them on a loose extender lead. Kept it short and was fine. So, if anyone is around north west suburbs of Perth I could join for a walk to help Moe's socialisation I'd be grateful (I don't mind travelling). It's probably more about my confidence to be honest! Thanks. Jo (Team MoeJo ) Edited April 23, 2010 by Marmite
mirawee
Welcome Marmite and good luck with Moe vCBR... it is NOT going to rain Although current forecast for Thurs is a few showers Can you imagine the bottom oval with 6 rings set up if we do get a fair amount of rain? Retrieving training with jumps anyone?
RallyValley
Just planning for just in case! I hope it dosen't rain either as my big brave boy hates getting his feet wet and has tantys if he has to sit for too long on wet grass.

The ancient one is missing a post but I just did a bit of digging around and found a 2nd hand Compact Oztrail for $85 that I will be picking up tomorow morning before agility! Welcome to the forum Marmite, I would offer my dogs social services but they can both be a little unpredictable!

Thanks. Jo (Team MoeJo ) Welcome Marmite(Jo) looking at your avatar I can't see that the cuteness factor has worn off with Moe, I think he is very cute, their loss if yours and his gain. We have a regular get together of DOL'ers when time and weather permits at various venues both north and south of the river so feel free to join us anytime as it is great for getting dogs use to socialising and good for us too especially when some DOL'ers decide to bring yummy treats . Even those that are a little shy usually feel quiet relaxed because they are with like minded people and we all have our furkids for support. Details are usually posted in the events section but sometimes it will show up here too. I've included a picture taken at one of our doggie gatherings. ozjen
Not in on Saturday Valley CBR but hoping to pop down for the PM for a bit after tracking training. Not a problem regarding the Cabana will pick it up then and get your details for picking up your numbers. Have heard that they are setting up the rings about the back of 1 and not permitting people to set up early(before 3) unless they first help set up and complete all rings, also loan cabanas for the interstaters will go up first along with any used by club. Not sure about pushing things with my back at the moment so if they want me to help it will have to be barjumps only. I might also have to wait for J to finish work to help handle the cabanas but I'm pretty sure she finishes early that day, either way we will sort something out. Anyone else going down early, just in case I need to rope in a helper?
