mirawee
I hope you are all ready for the onslaught of school holidays!!! Public schools begin this afternoon. No more peaceful shopping centers, movies, parks, LOL Ahhh but the trains will be quieter, roads in peak hour quieter, no school kids to block the footpaths in the city. School holidays for me = BLISS :D Bliss :D No more being hit by teenagers' school bags for 2 whole weeks

Weasels
If I get any spare time I hope to go through about a million pics that need editing - from agility, herding, surfing and finally got some off-lead pics of my two on a lovely walk at Chidlow last sunday :) :D

RubyStar
Hey CC, because I can see how free you are () if you're ever interested in doing a portrait sitting for a couple of Labs and a Mini Schnitzel, I'd be keen to hire you :) I will pay :)
Ptolomy
Yep time shortage is a real problem for me too. Have started a new job, have a new puppy who wakes up anywhere between 3.20 and 5.30am and my cook is going away for 2 months Heading to Melbourne to compete in a couple of weeks time and so far the only training I have done has been virtual stuff - virtually nothing

RubyStar
Would anyone be able to give me a ballpark figure of what it generally costs to get a dogs ears flushed under a GA please? Anyone's dog had it done? Ta!
raffikki
Rhino has just had a huge problem with an ear, and has had to have it flushed a number of times in the last few months Our regular vet charged around $500, but I think they are a bit more expensive than a lot of others, and unfortunately still had trouble seeing the ear drum. Murdoch has some excellent equipment/camera set up(written as MedRX on bill) and have charged me between $720 & $1150, including pain relief and $70 worth of drops. I hope whichever dog has a problem is feeling better soon :)
Mason_Gibbs
Would anyone be able to give me a ballpark figure of what it generally costs to get a dogs ears flushed under a GA please? Anyone's dog had it done? Ta! If its Ruby I would let Mandy and them do it because they are experts and have specialist equipment.
RubyStar
Has anyone had it done NOT at Murdoch? Just looking to compare prices. On another note, if you have a dog who absolutely will not let you cut their nails... magic cure? Thundershirt + soft muzzle = success!! It was like witnessing a completely different dog
Mason_Gibbs
Gibbs isnt too worried sbout his nails being cur but he just wont sit still long enough!!
RubyStar
Millie used to be ok, until the vet nurse up at the local vet cut 2 nails too short, causing them to bleed. Then stopped the bleeding by dabbing it with something even more painful. Hasn't let anyone near her feet since. Mum scoffed at my bright idea of trying the thundershirt. She ate her words when she saw Millie stand still and I cut a nail unassisted! Mum then held her gently and talked to her while I finished the rest of her front feet :)

raffikki
Has anyone had it done NOT at Murdoch? Just looking to compare prices. I had it done the once at Ascot and it cost $519, which included fluids and a fungal culture(which cost $125)
RubyStar
Thanks raffikki :) That's a significant difference. Less than half price. But Murdoch apparently have the best equipment for it to get right to the ear drum... I am not sure what to do!!
raffikki
If it were me, I definitely go to Murdoch. Without needing the cultures for Rhino, the cost there was $720 just for a flush. He needed that one because she couldn't see the drum with the normal scope and we wanted to be sure it was intact. The most expensive time was only because he had a fungus in there that was not commonly found in ears, and we had cultures done as well as tests to check resistance to different treatments. RubyStar
Yeah, my gut tells me to just book in with Murdoch this week. Not sure the best path to go down to avoid these issues again once the flush is done! Looking into trying out the 6 week food elimination diet to see if the underlying cause is food allergy. If it's not and it's environmental, then we'll just have to deal with it like we've been doing the past 5 years. Dermotic as needed! I'm not subjecting her to another round of desensitization!
