RallyValley
No im a bit over the whole thing Sorry to hear he is still having soundness issues. It is so frustrating isn't it? I at least feel like i am doing 'something' whether it will work out in the long run I don't know. Trying to even up Rosie's obviously unevenly developed tricep muscles by doing hill work each day. Have just re introduced some jumping and retrieve with non bouncing objects and will see. ugh "this close' to saying forget it, i just won't do agility anymore and have a limpy dog on occasion and just deal with it. Probably not what you want to hear (or maybe you do) but almost 18 months of seeing Deb and I have only seen Toby limp once or twice. In the time leading up to seeing Deb he was lame at least once every couple of months. I am actually going to talk to Deb but he MIGHT be sound enough to resume agility this year. Plus google Rally-O - that may be something you and Rosie can try in the meantime!! ETA - Sorry to hear Gibbs is lame again MG Edited January 18, 2012 by RallyValley
mirawee
I looove red & tans!! Fingers crossed you get the right pup! Sorry Mirawee I am a total show doofus, but I didn't think "... & tan" was within the standard? Are there different shows? Also how old before you can tell if they are show prospects? If she is half as adorable as Jilly she could take over the world! Red/tan and black/tan are both allowed in the standard. Of course some judges don't like them but who cares :) Pups were born today :D 3 red/tan girls and a black/tan girl (plus 2 black/tan boys) So now the wait is on to see which (if any) come to WA in the middle of March :D ugh "this close' to saying forget it, i just won't do agility anymore and have a limpy dog on occasion and just deal with it. I persevered with Kinta for a couple of year before letting her become a bed warmer only. Her problems were chronic muscle issues which were non-specific, so she could go sore pretty well anywhere from her jaw to her back end! We were doing acupunture with Liz Franks and treatments which should have lasted a few months lasted a week Problem was the only sign we got that she was sore most of the time was she would start running under jumps rather than jumping them, with only the occasional lame day After a year she had a bigger file with Liz than most dogs got in a life time and she didn't like the treatments either because they hurt So we went to Bowen and she now just gets a treatment when she "asks" for it (Laura comes and the dogs take it in turns getting a treatment, then they wander off so she goes to the next one, then they come back for more ) But she has 1 AD pass and that is it coz I decided to stop wasting my money :p Since moving up to Gidge she is the soundest she has been since she was 18 months, but at 10 I don't think she will be going back into the agility ring ;)

RallyValley
Congratulations Mirawee! I am so excited for you Can't wait to see your pup in the ring and have some puppy Kelpie kisses. :)
mirawee
Maybe it is a demo? It says in the catalogue all the obedience classes + RallyO so I assumed it was a trial... Um, my Canine News is at work so can't give date or look it up. AP, I couldn't have asked for better with the litter :D 3 in my preferred colour too so hopefully one of those is the pick dog. I don't mind black/tan but if she was bred to Banjo in the future that means I could only get black base dogs. If I got a red/tan I could get a combination of red and black, with and without markings :D

I think he likes being the only "man" in the house :D No reason to know the standard unless you are interested in showing or breeding so it is a valid question :) Going back 10 years anything but a red/chocolate was considered unfashionable in the show ring alhtough the standard hasn't changed
RubyStar
Congrats mirawee, I dare say one of the pups will be just right for you and lucky you will be getting puppy breath very soon!!! The Canine News did mention Rally-O, but it said to enter on the day so to me that says it isn't a proper trial, just a practice ring like we've had for a while now (but I could be wrong). I do hope we get some real Rally-O trials soon! Is anyone attending the Rally-O seminar early Feb I think it is? I considered it, it's $20, but not sure if I'll bother. After that date there will be no other places filled. Sooooo if you are interested I would suggest you contact me asap and not leave it till the last day. FYI The GSDA have kindly donated their grounds for the weekend and are going to a great deal of trouble to ensure that food will be available, ie afternoon tea as well as 'dinner' at 5.30pm. For those who have already booked, can you please forward your money to me asap to finalise your place at the seminar. Valeta More info: The cost of the seminar for handlers is $20, payable to DogsWest, or cash. Please send to me. I am hoping to have a disc and paperwork for every handler, hence the cost. I am also hoping that everyone will support the GSDA by purchasing food from their canteen. On the Sunday afternoon, judges will be putting up some courses so that after a short dinner break, handlers can work the courses. Should be a lot of fun for everyone. Guest RosieFT
oooh good luck getting a show quality girl Mirawee :-) Thanks for the comments re your experiences with sore dogs... I am trying to find what triggers Rosie... it is usually either so mild it is hard to pick, or very obvious but lasts a short time. At this point i think i will be able to do jumping but not agility for awhile.. it is the propping and pushing off on fronts that Deb feels is the problem. She also thinks it is most likely mechanical rather than pain, so hoping the strength work will help/fix the problem .. fingers crossed. So weaves (which is what she started refusing to do) and A frame. I am trying to teach her to lower her back end when her front end is down to try and help her stop putting all the weight on the front. For a very upright, symetrical dog, slinking does not come naturally :-) Her tricep is actually building up, which is amazing considering we have only been doing the hill work since the 29th.. but she had not flesh there and now she does :-) . Hopefully my butt is shrinking... LOL.. but i have not yet noticed a difference...
Mason_Gibbs
I know you said its not the same as Kenz's but I do know the propensity for reinjury of anything until properly rehabbed is high. Any potential tendon/ligament damage can take many months to heal properly. Hopefully Gibbs is better soon :). I know its a bitch!! And keepng him in a crate while he is growing is worse for puppies so crate rest is out he is a lot better after 2 days of beng quiet and just swimming so guess we will see
