emery
Happy Birthday Banjo. Well can i have a whinge not dog related at all lol. Got up at 3am today as hubby is supposed to fly to newman for his new job. Confirmed flights and when he had to be there. So wake children up get to airport to be told you are not on this flight :S If you come back at 5.45 we will call the comapny and find out what's going on. Fine come home for a bit go back (no sleep at all) they call up to be told he has to call his supervisor it's not our problem. Sigh. Hubby calls one of his bosses who tries desperately to contact one of the workers already in Newman to organise flights. 2 hours at the airport at this stage, Finally get a call new company have none of your paperwork. What the????? next flight isn't to 1.30pm Fine we going home then to get some sleep. Get home just before 8 with two tired and cranky adults and two very tired toddlers straight to bed for them and they still asleep. Phone call have you done this this and this. Yes as soon as it arrived. Well company can't find it we will try get you on a flight tomorrow. They had better be paying hubby as he is supposed to be working and we can't afford for him not to it's their stuff up and I am rather annoyed. Okay vent over Resume normal posting lol
RubyStar
I'm off this afternoon for a weekend of camping with Ruby and to watch/help out at the retrieving trials over the long weekend. I just hope Ruby doesn't try to gas me out in the tent, her rear end has been foul the past couple of days!!!! Have fun although I have to say camping would be my worst nightmare, especially with a farty arsed dog Pleased to say her bottom behaved There were killer moths about, though!! Ruby had her revenge by eating this massive one that fell into the back of the car where she was
RubyStar
Yeah i dont do camping myself unless there is a working loo and shower lol There is a camp toilet and you can always take your own camp shower. Camping isn't my favourite thing, but it's an experience I am willing to endure for the enjoyment of retrieving!

RubyStar
Not much news here, except that we've worked out that James has Cold Tail/Dead tail - which apparently is quite common in gundogs, and particularly labs, English Setters and pointers - who would have thought right?!anyway, apparently it'll get betteri n a couple of weeks, and I have some pain meds that will help in the meantime. Poor James is being more sooky than usual and wants constant cuddles and won't leave my side... poor baby. As Mason2009 said, Ruby has had cold tail. Twice actually, within a month or two of each other! And hasn't had it since. I was glad I had read about it before she had it, because it's enough to make you think they have broken their tail!! So it saved me going into a panic It looks so sad, doesn't it! But I can't say it lasted for 2 weeks, a few days, less than a week at most. I didn't give Ruby any pain meds, she didn't appear to be in pain, I just let her have a break from training. She was fine I hope she doesn't get it again, the last time she got it she had been sitting in the car with her tail in the same position for a few hours. She spent most of the weekend in the car so I hope it doesn't come back! We have 3 obedience trials on the weekend

Wazzat Xolo
From a person who's dog doesn't have a tail- what is "cold tail" ? Sorry Boxagirl have no idea as mine always have a cold bloody tail in this weather! J This is what the net says The cause of limber tail is not known although it is thought to be associated with hard workouts (especially in underconditioned dogs), heavy hunting, and swimming or bathing in water that is too cold or too warm. Some owners reported that they grab the tail as a means of correction. Tail conformation (high set or very active), gender (males more frequently affected), and nutritional factors have also been suggested as possible causes. Ongoing studies suggest that limber tail is associaed with muscle damage in the tail with dogs examined early in showing elevated muscle enzymes eg., creatine phosphokinase. Or visually, it looks like a broken tail. The tail sticks out about 10cm, then just drops to the ground. Edited April 27, 2011 by RubyStar
