emery
For CD what is the COP?? Ie stand to drop, sit to stand etc. There were 3 dogs only yesterday doing CD and i never got to watch. Leave your dog in a stand, walk away, about turn, down your dog, return to dog. that sounds easy to pass now how do i teach my dog to drop without tapping ground between her paws lol ??? RoxyNHemi
OK - So I am completely from a showing background and can probably explain all of that to you, but am at a loss when it comes to obedience Is CD / CDX the obedience titles? And what is involved in the first obedience trial? I am such a noob and need it explained in simple terms Cheers
Mason_Gibbs
Roxi n hemi CCD, CD, CDX, UD & UDX are the obedience titles. We are newbies to trialling and are doing CCD, its basically 5 mins of heelwork, with auto sits, some drops and stands, changes of pace etc. Also a stand for exam and a recall. Then if u pass all that you do A 1 min group sit stay and a 2 min drop stay, i dont know enough about the rest to comment except to say as u go up the levels the exercises obviously get harder and more complex like scent discrimination and dumbell retrieves over a jump etc, longer stays, stand stays, out of sight stays..... And what is involved in the first obedience trial? I am such a noob and need it explained in simple terms Cheers As a fellow noob here goes, just the basics. CCD- lowest class, heel pattern on leash, followed by figure 8 heeling around 2 people (on leash), followed by a stand for exam (on leash) followed by a 12+m recall (off leash) then sit stays and down stays (off leash with other dogs) CD -Novice - like CCD except all off leash and longer durations/distances. Plus another optional (as in you choose which one) exercise. CDX - Open - Much harder... lost more stuff don't actually know 100% what happens myself so will let the experts fill you in. UD -Utility Dog and UDX - Utility Dog Excellent are for insane people and/or genius dogs... They have to do scentwork, directed jumps, heel patterns with no verbal commands and directed retrieves ect. Also google Rally-O, it will be officiated next year and definately fun for you and Hemi to try!
