For anyone training small dogs in Agility looking for a cheap training tunnel, I picked this one up at Ikea on the weekend for just under $30, it was on special. About 1.7 mts long and about 17inch diameter, good heavy duty material and rings are well padded. Ideal for me training in the house with a complete beginner to tunnels. A little extra cord attached to the ties would put a nice curve in it too, I just used the ties there to show the possiabilities. Very lightweight too and easier to deal with than my Kraymer one.

Always on the look out for inexpensive training gear I also bought two little footstools and the bladder to a kids toy/come seat but couldn't afford the cover too so will have to go back for that as on inspecting the bladder I think the cover would help it last longer. (This is to use as a wobble surface for the dogs to exercise the extra muscles like those half egg gym balls the American trainers seem to use abit).

This wobble board is another bargin I got a while back at Kmart for $10 in the fitness section, again helps exercise more muscles but also I'm using it to build confidence with the little fellow to trust me even when he is out of his comfort zone as he is very particular about where he puts his feet.

I also have a disc rubber bladder bought at the same time for $10 for the same purpose but not sure where it is at the moment.

Anyone else found some cheap potentially good training tools out there that they would like to tell the rest of us about?

A friend of mine has a chihuhua and on days like yesterday when its windy etc he freezes when he is at class, where can they get him a coat from? Most shops dont have them in yet as its not cold atm.

I may have one that will fit, was going to chuck it, it was Kyzer's from when he was a puppy.

Thanks Amy, I will be at K9 on Wed if you will be there??

ncarter when did you get a puppy, and why havent you posted any photos!!

A place veryone recommends for socialisation is Train a Pup Time - a couple of WA Dolers have gone to her and can't recommend her enough. i am not sure where abouts you are though - it might be too far.

I got her like 9 days ago, she has been keeping me pretty busy. Thanks for the recommendation guys. Here is a photo of her

Spoken like a true big dog person  Might be okay then, Kyzer is 6kg, it's far too small for him, better than it getting chucked anyway.

He is cute etc but i have only ever had big dogs so its hard to imagine how u would train heelwork etc?? But anyway he is just their pet and they love him loads- he gets away with tons tho. When he stays here for 2 weeks his life will change, poor thing

OMG look at the size of her - so what is her name and do tell us more

Im calling her stella, she is a hound tri with only a small bit of black near her tail, mostly from swedish lines, she came from a breeder in Mudgee, im hoping she grows to a nice size about 3kg would be good. she is only about 1.1/1.2kg at the moment. She is very naughty but im happy that she is outgoing enough and not too intimidated by bigger dogs etc.

She should have a playdate with my friends chi, would be the perfect size.

ncarter she is lovely :(

I don't know if I am going to make it to training tonight :( I have such a bad toothache and the dentist can't fit me in until tomorrow  OzJen, will call you when I know for sure.

Thats OK Mirrawee, was thinking about giving it a miss anyway, after watching the devestation in NZ I'm not really in the mood for going out anyway. Sorry you have a toothache though, hope you can find a dentist that can deal with it sooner than tomorrow, dose up on pain killers and cuddle up to a hot water bottle in the mean time. I hope your feeling better soon.

I'm going to training tonight but only planning to do 7pm-8pm. Last Wednesday at work I was completely wrecked. 6.30pm for setup, 2 sessions, then 9.45pm after packup, was just too much for me to handle. I'm feeling knackered at the moment and missing out on my "night off" tomorrow night cos of the show and go, so definitely not doing 2 sessions tonight!! Wanted a quick nanna nap when I got home but knew that would make me feel worse :( So I'm trying to stay away!

Hope your tooth feels better soon mirawee!

yeah maybe, i had planned to do a bit of show training at K9 on thursdays. what nights do you get down there?

ncarter did you decide whether you'll be showing?

She is gorgeous - congratulations!! you've been waiting a while :(

Thanks. Yes the plan is to show. I had been expecting a boy from somewhere else actually but that fell through and then this litter came up and i preferred one of the pups that just happened to be a bitch so i decided i should take her.
