Nope, sorry to say but I go alot further back than that and have the grey hairs to prove it. But I have Mirawee who is good enough to run my dog in agility and jumping while I watch. :welcome::rofl:

Have you shown Jenna that whip?? We have a trial on Friday night remember  Hope you have been working her hard since you got home from holidays :p

The obedience in Vic Park is at Raphael Park (Or Rafael I can never remember how to spell it :) )

And it was way too hot today :( It was only meant to be around 30C! However I did manage to wash one of my yearling horses for the first time and take some nice photos of him :mad

Well we did take the girls to the beach for a good run and play but can't say they were overly keen to be active and I've run Jenna through the weavers and a few jumps, but she did act as though she had just run an endurence test and decided to hug the water dish instead. Will keep up the short sessions though even if I have to throw her over the jumps :p . In this weather she prefers air conditioned comfort, Fingers are crossed for a cool change on Friday and a well behaved dog.

Fellow WA'er here - Hi All!! :)

Hi :(

thats ok mirawee, i gratuated 1996

Oh no I think I am the oldest!!!!!! *******Goes looking for grey hairs............................

Nope, sorry to say but I go alot further back than that and have the grey hairs to prove it. But I have Mirawee who is good enough to run my dog in agility and jumping while I watch. :welcome::mad

:p :p Looks like its you'n'me ozjen - so when did you leave school??? Oh how I wish I had graduated somewhere around 1990...something!! Oh well, good thing Im quite immature :mad

We got about 1mm rain - not good enough really, Im sooooooooooooooooo sick of the heat, the humidity and no rain! I think our dogs handle it better than me! We dont have aircon, but quite a well designed house re heating and cooling, but this last two weeks have just been yuck! :)

Does anyone else here read the Quokka from cover to cover?? I found a few "strange" ads in the pet section, 'wanted' bit last night - someone looking for very rare, dont even think there are any in Aus, dogs. All herding breeds too............Oh and a dingo! I sometimes get a bit sad reading the ads though, there are soo many kittens it breaks my heart - why oh why cant people desex????? And I wont even go there with people looking for X dog to breed with their Y dog, who is oh so cute :mad:mad Pulease!

Anyway, Im on RDOs now - dont go back to work til Thursday, yay!! Sleep ins and playing with my girls. Fencing and stuff as well, to keep our small smart-alec lamington out of the horse yard!

Rat

Well without giving too much away I was married in 1979 :(:( but still young at heart if not in body.

I'm an avid Quokka fan but like you I sometimes feel sad at the number of designer breeds being rehomed with their first litter when people realise that their pups don't sell as well as the high priced petshop ones. What herding breeds were people looking for? I haven't bought a Quokka for a while. Dingoes are occassionally available but they do have very special needs. Personally as much as I love Dingoes I think it is a shame that they are available to the public as so many people aready have problems catering to their domestic dogs and cats.

:D Thanks Ozjen - I feel alot younger now ;)

They were after Briard, Bergamasco and Bouvier des Flandres as well as the Dingo!! Maybe theyre just after a 'rare' dog I dunno??? I dont think Ive heard of Bergamascos in Australia tho.. I agree about the dingo, beautiful animals but not for the average joe public I dont think! A work mate had one from up north and she was a gorgeous girl, and he was the right kind of person to have one, but I wouldnt even go there! I have enough trouble with the ridgy

Mirawee - yes a pony patting party at your place sounds fun :) :)

Are you going to share these horse photos!?!?

In a dog forum? :welcome:

OK...

The palomino is my yearling Quarter Horse x Thoroughbred gelding, Xavi, who is unfortunately for sale since I have two Anglo Arab yearling fillies who are keepers  And yes I do cross breed horses :p But they are all bred for performance/showing

The naughty foal is Aeryn who is jumping on her mother Abbey... took that shot today as well and if you want horsey photos I figure you will enjoy it :p Abbey is a Holsteiner and Aeryn's dad is a KWPN warmblood... hopefully she will be a brilliant showjumper when older!

Wow, didn't realise that was Xavi, gee he certainly developed rich colour,I thought he would be more Diva's colour, he's lovely. That's not to say Diva isn't.

I kinda feel like changing mine, but I think it's stuck :p

I want to change it to be obviously Chesapeake but I might just wait till I (one day) get a prefix and make it that.

(I just realised that my sig looks photo shopped but it's not :p )

I wanted to change my name to my prefix once i got it but i love my name too much now and don'twant to change it!! I use it on other forums as well (mostly dog forums though!) and i have used my prefix on one forum but can't get used to it!!

i love your new siggy!! very arty

Love the horse pics mirawee!

does anyone know anywhere in perth that you can take herding breeds just to see what they can do? I thought about doinng it with the OES as he tends to like to round up stuff and thought it might be fun for him... but i don't know where to start looking... :welcome:

we got about 10 minutes of fat rain on Saturday afternoon... right after the massive stormwhich caused a small fire close by. at the time i was outsidein a puddle of water bathing a sopping wet Old English... I love storms but that one was MUCH too close for comfort. It frightened Charlie, and it freaked out poor Ari for about an hour. Anyway, waiting out the storm put us back about half an hour and I didn't get charlie to the show on Saturday night which sucked... i can't wait for our next show!!

Steph Gibson does herding classes out at Mandurah, we've been a couple of times and so has Mirrawee and it is our dogs only experience with sheep. Also I believe there is a guy in the hills that does classes, Mirrawee would probabaly know more. Some of the dogs you least expect to be naturals with sheep turn out to be the best ones.

I bet you do ( wish I could say the same. :welcome:

I think there might be some Brairds around (interstate) and there was a litter of 10 Bouviers born recently in WA, 4 boys and 6 girls. Can't say I've seen any Bergamscos though.

Absolutely! We tried to do it with the retired racing Greyhounds that had been adopted some time ago at Cannington race track but the racing industry wouldn't be in it, they would have needed tractor driver, vet etc on course and the only day available would have been Sunday - not a problem with us being Owners but tractor driver, vet etc would want paying - and being their only day off!

Unless you could find an enclosed oval somewhere that would be willing, we used to have Greyhound playgroup at the German Shepherd Assoc in Southern River they had a huge enclosed straight track the Greys could run up and down to their hearts content but then they wouldn't allow us to go there anymore.

We would definately be up for it as I'm sure would other Greyhound owners, if you need a hand please let me know.

Julie

Hope you don't mind me butting in on your thread. I'm in the UK at the moment, but hoping to be in WA within the next few months and will be bringing my Lhasa Apso with me of course.

Once she gets through quarentine and I get her registered with Dogs West, I'm hoping to be able to do some showing over there. I've been reading up on your show system (which is so different to ours) and trying to get my head around it, but I'm hoping you will be able to give me some tips if needed.

My family and I are so looking forward to life out there, our son married an Aussie girl and has been there for 10 years now. We have 2 young grandsons who we can't wait to spend more time with. We've been over there several times over the years and love it!

:vomit: To DOL Pommy Lhasa - How exiting for you, moving all that way! Bet you cant wait to spend time with your grandies!!

Ill let the more experience showies help you out in that department, Ive only done *cough* about a half dozen shows

Sharna - lure coursing would be great fun, but like rommi n lewis, Im too far from Perth to commit!! I cant even get to obedience classes an hour away :cheer: Im sure Ive got a picture somewhere of ridgies racing/lure coursing somewhere over east. Ahhh, it would be so much fun!!

Closest I get is playing hide and seek chasey with my two nutters! Its so much fun, they get so into it, chasing me around trees and cars, while I try and sneak to the next obstacle :flame::rofl:

Anyone get to the shows on the weekend?? Any results?? Group 4.....
