RubyStar
Just because the CAWA grounds are in that area shouldnt mean any more privileges & im at a lost as to why you think that should be so.Members live far & wide not just in Gosnells We are saying that because it appears the City of Gosnells are the only ones who are STRICTLY 2 dogs only. But if there are any other councils in WA who are as strict as this one, then I agree that it shouldn't just be restricted to CoGosnells people for our idea of DogsWest leniency, in a perfect world it would be a good idea for ALL council areas that have pathetic 2 dog laws!! RubyStar
RS, City of Wanneroo is apparently quite good with regards to granting permits... Swan sounds ideal too I was actually first looking to relocate in that area, but then found this house. Ideally I want to move to Bassendean, which was where I almost ended up. So if anyone knows if Town of Bassendean allow extra dog permits, I'd love to know!

SparkyTansy
RS a good way of finding out is to read the minutes of their meetings they usually have the business of granting permits and whether or not they are granted. do this in addition to finding out the process of their council for 3 dog permit. Tiggy
My council is the City of Swan and I know you can apply for a three dog permit, there's an application fee of $100 odd. I'm in South Guildford so only five minutes from Bassendean but I'm not sure if Bassendean is the same council.
Tiggy
I just remembered the stupid thing is you have to have the third dog before you apply for the three dog permit.
RubyStar
I just remembered the stupid thing is you have to have the third dog before you apply for the three dog permit. How stupid is that! Pretty sure Bassendean has it's own council. It's smaller than a "city" so they are Town of Bassendean. But then again, I don't really know much so could easily be wrong
RoxyNHemi
Yep - Gosnells is strict as with the rules! No allowances what so ever... Just to do with their plannin scheme. I used Vetwest Canning Vale once, they tried getting me to sign up for pet insurance because I had a Westie and they are prone to skin issues, saying that, so did my vet in Midvale... Also Vetwest tried getting me to do surgery on a 12 year old dog that had a haematoma? on her ear, that could be easily drained afterwards I found out! Lucky i was wiser and made enquiries first! Thanks! Would be interesting to know why they are such d*cks!! See now City of Swan have the right idea. Pay a fee, have ranger inspect property, ask neighbours, pass all that, hey presto, you can have your 3rd dog! I only just bought my house and moving in this weekend, so I will be stuck in City of Crapnells for a few years at least. Congrats on the house RS! I used to live in Kenwick for 5 years and my brother lived in Thornlie. I actually think they are great suburbs if you're in an OK part. They're not too far from the city or highways or the train. We built a house in Forrestdale and moved there but I still miss some things about Kenwick (Like it's proximity to the airport when I have to make a 5am trip ) Glad you had fun camping RosieFT! Sounds like Rosie had a ball (actually I bet she had lots of balls ) Yeah bad joke. FWIW Thornliegirl, I used to take Kyzer to Applecross vet (I work in Applecross) but didn't find them that great for a pet owner. I think they're more of a breeder vet, repro and all that. I use Vetwest in Canning Vale and I'm quite happy with them really. Haven't had a bad experience yet anyway. My house is a 5 min walk to the train station, brilliant! I use VetWest Canning Vale too, fairly happy with them, except for the fact I paid them money to have Millie's microchip registered and they have failed to send the paperwork in! As soon as I get off my lazy butt, I will be going down there to give them a piece of my mind! Charging me double than it would have to send in the paperwork myself direct to AAR, and then not sending it 6 months later!
RoxyNHemi
Ha! This surprises me, Gosnells rangers can be soo slack.. I had the Gosnells ranger on my dooorstep the day my pups turned three months (Sunday). As I told him, I was doing the responsiable thing my pups would only be released to homes that signed a spay/neuter contract, I microchipped my pups and the ones I still had were getting their three month needle on the Monday and would then be picked up by their new owners. I still recieved a warning notice that all had to be gone within ten days. These pups were not causing any issues, most of the time they were inside, someone had looking over the fence and decided I had too many dogs. I still had one after the 10 days but no one came to check although it did cause me alot of stress as I wasn't going to release him to just anyone to get my numbers to councils approval. I had already knocked back a number of people who had enquired after pups and wasn't going to be forced into putting him into just any home. I only breed occassonally, I am looking at breeding another litter after three years without one as I am still hoping for a nice show pup for myself and want something to continue with the line I have so there is no point in having a kennel property. I hate the two dog rule especially when we are people who are involved in so many dog activities and our dogs aren't just left ignored in the backyard. Perhaps our canine council should push for some leniancy for canine members who are invoved in activities with their dogs as they are always wanting to promote membership. Unfortunately our dogs get too old or have already reached the limit of their acheivements and in order for us to continue our activities we need new blood, but that doesn't mean that we want to get rid of our old mates to make room for the new. RallyValley
CnR what vet do you use in Midvale? I use Midland Vetinary hospital and love it. They were so good with Toby when he was going in at least once a week for 2 months (and he loves going there). The vet I mostly see there is an orthopedic specialst and when I took Lincoln in for his check-up she had done a bit of research on Chessies and knew about them. SparkyTansy
oh just have to add - i am also from Thornlie - I lived in Forest lakes for most of my childhood!! I hate people that speak badly of Thornlie like the whole place is full of derros... people take a step sideways when you said you went to Thornlie High (ok slight exaggeration but that may as well be their reaction!). I liked where i lived and it certainly wasn't a bad neighbourhood. My sister, who also grew up in Thornlie, and now lives in Karrinyup when she isn't living in Singapore (where there is NO crime!) thinks its "scary" coming down to Thornlie now... i mean seriously... it seems the "snob bug" bit my sister good and hard. RallyValley
Well I live in Helena Valley, which noone has ever heard of (or they think its Mount Helena ) so I say "about 10 mins out of Midland" . I think Midland has a worse rep (which it mostly deserves).

Agreed... 'tis why I said my piece to say Thornlie is not that bad!! I hear reps about Gosnells and Armadale, but unless I live there to assess it for myself, I won't pass judgement I went to Thornlie High too, ST - I wonder if we knew each other? What year did you graduate if you don't mind me asking?

There is one just of Great Eastern/ Farrall Road - George Huber works there, he is a legend, when you can actually get to see him So I have been there once. He does alot with bones and Greyhounds. I have been going to the one on Morrison Road, becuase you can make an appt and it is more convienent knowing when you are going to rock up and get in edited to change Farrall to Morrison cause im confusing myselg Edited January 21, 2010 by CruiseNRoxy
