DMA
Although she wasn't my dog, I just couldn't let her die, under such sad & tragic circumstances, without at least ensuring that she won't die completely forgotten. Sasha was a surrender to Kurri Kurri pound last Sunday 25 Oct. She had had a litter, only a few weeks earlier, but the new mum had rejected her pups. Her owners felt they had little choice other than to surrender her as a result. I saw her on Tuesday 27 Oct & found her to be very friendly, affectionate, & well behaved. Why she had rejected her pups I simply don't know, as she showed no signs whatsoever that she would make for a bad mother. Alas, having had her pups, unbeknownst to everyone, she had gotten a really bad infection in her uterus which the pound staff discovered on Wednesday morning (28 Oct). The pound took her to the vets who said it'd cost over $2000 for treatment which they were far from convinced would be successful. So having little alternative, they PTS Sasha. Poor girl. Such a sad ending to what was already a tragic story. RIP girl Here's some of the photos I took of her on Tuesday... a very pretty girl. It's such a shame she is no longer with us
poodlefan
Well I hope her former owners enjoyed their family experience of the "thrill of birth". Why the f#ck would you surrender her because she'd rejected puppies? I'd have thought a hysterectomy and a decent course of antibiotics would have fixed her up. She probably rejected the pups due to her ill health. Edited October 29, 2009 by poodlefan

poodlefan
Next time someone posts here about wanting to breed their pet to experience the "thrill of birth" I shall link them to Sasha's thread. Maybe it might save some other poor girl from a similar fate.
