Staff&Cav
My mums cav has had quite a bad reaction, which has been diagnosed as a flea allergy. He was given a flea tablet a lovely bath and treated with frontline plus, he has a elizebethian collar on becuase he has scratched himself to the point where his back is bleeding. What else can we do to help this situation, he is still very itchey
puggy_puggy
An antihistamine tablet might help calm the itchiness. Something like Claratyne would be fine.

Clyde
I'd use Advantage over the Frontline for a dog with FAD (flea allergy dermatitis).
Crazy Daisy
On my dog I use Advantage, malaseb wash and spray apple cider vinegar 50/50 on the irritated areas. This has worked a treat and his hair is growing back now too.
Aziah
Advantix over Frontline...
Rysup
Yeah ditch the Frontline. My vet gave me tablets for my boy when he got a bad itch going, but I cannot remember what they were now.
Poodle wrangler
A cav would weigh about 7-8kg? I'd give about 1/4 tablet Claratyne. Lorastyne is the same drug, but cheaper. Box says for children 12years and over- 1 tablet/ day. I have given my 5 year old (about 23kg) 1/2 tablet for mild allergy with Dr's advice. I think it will take time for the skin to settle. Takes about 18hours to kill the fleas. Are you supposed to wait 48 hours after a bath for FrontlinePlus? Something about the oils in the skin and absorption?
