I grabbed the video camera just now as she started doing it again. I'd say she does it every day, (for the last 5 days or so) but only for about a minute at a time, then it stops and she's fine again. I took her to the vet because she's been snuffling and sneezing a lot which is weird. But that's only every so often too, and she didn't do it at the vets. They said her ears and chest is clear but she had a frothy throat, and gave us antihisthemines for her. They didn't think anything was up her nose but couldn't check properly without giving an anesthetic so they said to watch her and wait to see if it goes away with the antihisthemines. If it's just reverse sneezing then I don't have to worry, do I? She is still waggy tailed and her normal self. BigDaz Posted October 19, 2009 Share Posted October 19, 2009 My two Staffy's do this occasionally, about 6 weeks ago they started doing it numerous times each day. They normally have Kangaroo for dinner but I had also started buying beef for a bit of a change, and because the Kangaroo was occasionally hard to get. Once I stopped feeding them beef, they stopped reverse sneezing and have not done it much at all since the beef stopped. It may be a coincidence but it all seems to fall into place, it started when I put them on beef and stopped when I took them off beef. It may not be just food though, it could be some other change, new plants or even just more flowers in the garden. Reverse sneezing is a normal action, but I don't feel its normal for them to have such a sudden increase in the frequency like you are describing. t-time Posted October 19, 2009 Share Posted October 19, 2009 I'd suggest that at this point, maybe it IS because of the fires and smoke around ;) Wait until the air clears and see what she's like then Reverse sneezing is quite normal and in fact, I have one girl who does it when she wants attention! (I tell her to "Stop It!" and she does LOL!) I wouldn't go for scopes etc unless this is a prolonged situation so just give it a little while to see if the frequency settles down. So at the moment it's wait and see. I really don't want to put her through a scope unless necessary and the vet didn't seem to think it was at the time. The funny thing is, this morning I heard the reverse sneezing and went to investigate, and it turned out to be my male dog. So I agree that the smoke could be playing a part in it. It's also very dusty. Not that this matters much, because she will get treatment no matter what if she needs it, but I don't think our pet insurance will cover this if she does need further treatment because we are still within the 30 day illness waiting period Edited October 19, 2009 by Baby Dragon Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
