atua
Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to read this post it is much appreciated. Currently I am looking at changing my dogs current food over by adding a little more flavour. What I am looking at doing is buying pet grade mince which contains offal, chicken frames, beef and liver and the other leftovers. I currently just feed them raw chicken mince with Bonnie dry food and occasionally sardines. They also get the odd briskett bones. I plan on buying this pet mince and cooking it up with sardines and raw eggs and rice. I would use vegetables but my dogs dont seem to eat them. Is there anything else that I should add in this brew? Thank you once again Mel
poodlefan
Don't cook it. You'll destroy some important protein enzymes by doing so. If the mince contains bone you shouldn't cook it anyway. Why not just feed a better quality dry food and lots of raw meaty bones? Chicken frames would be great for your larger dogs and wings for the little guy You need to ensure that you new pup gets a well balanced diet. I'd suggest a premium kibble and raw meaty bones. You have no way of ensuring that home cooked food contains the right balance of calcium and phosphorus for a growing dog.. and that balance is contained in RMBs and in premium food. Talk to your pup's breeder about what they feed their show dogs - you should probably feed something similar. tyra20007
The best you can do is to NOT COOK that mix! Do some reading on BARF principles and learn abit about obtaining the right balance. To the mix you have listed you could add some "Vets All Natural" which would add some veges and whole grains to help keep the bowels healthy. I also add supplements that I get from greenpet - the greenpet essentials and the omega3 oil blend. As well as PetPepUp which is a predigested supplement that is great for any dogs gut bacterias. Raw is best and you are on the right track. Just make up a mix and weigh it into daily serving sizes - bag it and freeze it - it is then as convenient as any processed dog food all you have to do is defrost it daily.
