I remember this pooch, what was it that you felt helped this Pug recover?

It really was a combination sas.

When she first came in she had a lot of skin infections and had many bald and black patches. She was put on antibiotics, antihistamines, baths and a good raw fresh diet with the addition of the Megaderm. At the end of this we saw a big improvement in the healing of her skin but she was still itchy. We then set about undergoing an elimination trial and the food she was fed was high quality. Her itchies stopped and her skin continued to improve further.

She had a small relapse in her new home and the cause is still being investigated. We believe this time it is atopic. My Vets tell me that most dogs who have diet related allergies will also be prone to atopic allergies.

We used Megaderm for Henry when he was first rescued and it was helpful. However there is a product the greyhound folk use called Sprint Oil which is about 1/4 of the price of Megaderm and we found it just as effective

I've just started trialling a human MSM cream on my little fella who always get the itchies and have been having some good results so far

I only thought to try it after reading through the testimonials and seeing someone saying it helped their dog. I know for a fact what causes Pepe itching (seasonal) so I just needed to find something soothing and this seems to be doing the trick so far

I went researching after you mentioned it and found MSM crystals to put in their food, seemed to have some good feedback?

Sas we use MSM in Henry's meals for his joints. Not sure about for skin but it does help him with his stiffness

You had her on an rare meat yeah?

Initially, raw minced beef or minced chicken carcas with pureed veges but the major part was beef or chicken mince. She also had a small handful of kibble once a day and pet milk sometimes with egg or yoghurt in the morning.

The food trial was done with raw goats meat (cubed or minced) and sweet ptotato. Nothing else.

It turned out that the original diet I was feeding her was the worst as she was affected by beef and dairy. She was also a little affected by chicken but not as bad as the beef. We also then trialled her on a kibble aimed at dogs with severe allergies and she was fine on this. I am trying to remember the brand of the kibble. It was one that easily found a Pet Barn though.

Obviously, in hindsight, if there is a possibility this is causing his skin problem I want rectify immediately. I can’t stand seeing my little boy uncomfortable. Do you think the food is probably behind it?

Personally i would be addressing the diet & am amazed the vet hasnt addressed this area.

I can understand you have a budget but the way i look at it is how much are you paying in vet bills.

Your bills alone could be minimi zed with looking at a diet that doesnt feed the yeast

He is fed on exactly what he was on when we got him from his rescue foster carers – a mixture of dry and wet pedigree dog food.

Unfortunatley the cheaper end of pedigree can be high in ceral,protein & food colourings & depending on the can your using again & reality is what your feeding would cost more than what i feed as ican is expensive.

I guess if iwas going to suggest anything it would be roo,camel or even rabbit & poatoe diet for atleast 6 weeks & see what happens.

Roo is easier to come by .

The folds you could wash out with peroxide from the supermarket in the first aid section(4%) brilliant stuff for eating bacteria & grud & i would do this regurlay ,it is also drying
