Chicken Wings

Hi all,Just looking for some advise on a 12 week old pug puppy. We are slowly getting him used to being by himself for short periods of time,in order to get him used to it.I was told by the breeder to give him a raw chicken wing to chew on when we are not there. Can i leave him safely chewing a raw chicken wing unsupervised, can this be a mistake to give him one while not watching him,or will he be ok and occupied and safe by himself with a raw chicken wing ?

Thanks

Yeh,thanks guys,it didnt feel right to me to leave him alone with a chicken wing.I have been stuffing his Kong with cheddar cheese, that keeps him happy for about 30 secs,he does like his pig ears though.

Should i freeze the kong with cheese in it,or is there something better to put in it,he doesnt like peanut butter ?

I am also going to start him on Pet Mince, the ground up chicken necks, will he be ok unsupervised with this meal ?

i don't know about kong.. my pup doesn't play with them.

he likes ice.. so i will put a piece of fruit in the ice and give it to him :vomit:

his favorite is, i put some dry biscuit in an old mobile phone sock, tied it up with an elastic band and give it to him. that will keep him amused for hours. when i get back from going out, i will undo the sock and give it to him.. ;)

mince is fine

When bourbon was at that 'whinging/howling/sooking' stage, i gave him a frozen kong stuffed with crushed cornflakes smeared with honey, if we have to go out n have to be back late.. Othertimes it would be frozen kong with sardines (its the cat's) mixed with kibbles..

That phase is over so now he gets a marrow occassionally, he can chew for hrs (plus hes teething atm) n then fall asleep..Zzzz..

Good luck n decide whats best for u n ur pup!

I'd worry about him swallowing the elastic band.

Thanks,my pup isnt really interested in the kong either, unless the cheese is falling out of it,and he does not like ice,as he wont drink water with ice in it,but i will try freezing a bit of fruit in it and see how it goes.I will try the frozen mince in the kong too.

Did you freeze the cornflakes and honey in the Kong?

I'd worry about him swallowing the elastic band.

There is no way he can take it off. I've watched him play with this toy for ages before I will leave him alone with it. he is more interested in biting the sock part where the biscuits are.

Stuff your kong with a mixture of nature's gift canned food (dilute it with a little water. Mix in a couple of bits of tasty kibble, and a few bits of apple, some grated cheese, plug small hole with peanut butter..and stand up in freezer to freeze

Thanks persephone,that sounds yummy.

And always thought Pugs would eat anything,i know douggy did,but he would not touch lettuce.Lets hope Wuggles does not turn into a problem child fussy eater.

Hi charleswentworth, could i use a normal sock with some yummy stuff in it and knot the end, would that have the same interest for him,or too easy to rip open and pig out?
