Guest Pandii Posted September 27, 2009 Share Posted September 27, 2009 How do I train Dante to stay out of the water bucket Its a huge big tin bucket and she constantly empties it leaving them both with no water She has a clam shell to play in I have tried to attach it to the tap but she used her 45 kilo bulk to pull it and pulled the tap a couple of inches out of the wall I cannot bolt it to the house, tried that ans he pulled at it and ripped the tin and left holes in the bucket. She is water obsessed Please give me ideas, I dont want to keep wasting water nor do I want the dogs to go thirsty Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Teebs Posted September 28, 2009 Share Posted September 28, 2009 I have that problem ;) Kaos loves to empty the bowl, then run around banging it on the fence for hours I have a heavy one I got years ago that she has never tired to empty, and a lighter one she always tips over, as well as 2 plastic ones that are so chewed i am amazed they hold water! Tilly Posted September 28, 2009 Share Posted September 28, 2009 (edited) I brought a terricota pot (large) and then a matching bucket (20 litres) and then dug the terricota pot halfway into the ground, put the bucket into the pot and filled it with water ... it last about 3 days until the brat discovered the bucket and managed to take the bucket out of the pot and then proceeded to play with the bucket .... terricota pot remained in the ground. We are currently using a large tub (about 40 litres) with a couple of heavy rocks/brick in the bottom ... but the brat has managed to move it halfway across the yard and empty it only twice so far but usually it ends up with about 6 inches of mud in the bottom. Was thinking of getting a house feeder thing and hang it off the fence (at ground level) by a couple of bolt eyelets ... just need to find something heavy duty. J... Posted September 28, 2009 Share Posted September 28, 2009 I know this is possibly a long shot, but have a scout around and see if you can get your hands on an old concrete laundry trough. They are bloody heavy empty so she's got buckleys of moving it full. Some people use them as planters etc, they aren't that common but you might find one somewhere.
