Titre Test

I've just contacted my club about rejoining as long as I can show a titre test instead of vaccination certificate and they said I could. So where can I have the titre test done in Perth? I'm near Midland. My Vet is the Swan Vet, I'm not sure if they do them, I'll give them a ring when I get home from work today.

Hi Tiggy - If you can get the vet to draw blood then you can actually drop it off the VetPath labs in Ascot.

I have just had titres done. The vet didn't charge me to pull the blood (Ranford Vet in Canning Vale) - so it was $66 which was the path lab charge for testing for Parvo and Distemper. They emailed the results to me.

There are two types of titre tests, the IFA (which is what Ptolomy would have had) and the VN/HAI (which is what Peigirl would have had)

The VN/HAI test is the gold standard, sent to a reference laboratory and the most accurate, the IFA is not as accurate and is just performed in-house at Vetpath.

It only costs $14 more to test for adenovirus is you are getting the VN/HAI done, so its not really a huge extra cost.

Sorry guys did a typo - wrote VN twice

No I was given the option of taking the blood to Pathlab which is in Ascot.

The blood was pulled late on a Thursday which meant it wasn;t going to get to the lab in time for the batching day run on Friday. I opted for the vet to send the blood in and wait for the testing to happen on a Tuesday.

I would be asking about the need to test for hepatitis.

Already have. $30 off if no hepatitis tested.

About to have Sofia TTed in the next month as she'll be 16 months and going to do all three purely out of curiosity. Rafael is just getting over a bout of kennel cough which amazingly Sofia didn't come down with. She was only ever given C3 vaccs as a pup and yet has pulled this amazing immunity out of nowhere, strong little girl.

Ranford Vet in canning Vale will pull the blood for you - I think they are open 7 days a week - so you could get it done before the Show N Go on the 6th Feb :)

The cost was $66 - I said I just needed the vet nurse to pull the blood - I didn't need to speak to the vet, so that was the cost for the testing.
