RL1 Posted September 24, 2009 Share Posted September 24, 2009 I'm looking at ordering a Barf Shop Twin tank hydrobath in the next few days. It's $2500, has twin tanks, heater, autofill, ect and a bonus ramp. It's HDPE, not f/glass like all other brands i've seen. I've been trying to buy a second hand one through Ebay, but the prices people are paying for used, old hydrobaths is crazy. I was bidding on a BARF shop hydrobath exactly like the above, but it's already hit the $2000 mark. Seems better to spend a bit more and buy a new one. Over time the plastic will scratch as it is a soft surface unlike fibreglass which is much harder. This is the main reason why plastic is not used for domestic spa baths as the surface will deteriorate and a rough surface is less hygienic. There is a removable floor in it that is made of a non slip material so the dogs are not standing on the plastic fir their nails to scratch it. The Barf Shop claim it won't scratch or chip at all because it's marine grade. Sales talk or the truth, who knows. I have had mine for around 3 years now and it hasn't missed a beat. SInce then though I've spoken to quite a few people that were very happy with their barf shop bath. Pricewise - I know what you mean. I sold my hydrobath on ebay about a year ago. I had it for about 4 years, and ended up making money on it when I sold it! From memory I bought it for about $1400, and sold it for around $1900. Thats all thanks to Sway - she told me to list it! A few months ago my husband was looking for a 2nd hand 6x4 trailer, he checked eBay listings for weeks and even trailers that were in so bad a condition they'd never have made it home in one piece, were going in excess of $300. Absolutely ridiculous! Good quality second hand ones were finishing at $500-$700. He checked locally, at places that sold new trailers, and a few welding workshops and within a few hours he'd bought a fully refurbished heavy duty steel trailer for $300. It had new sides, new wheels and had been repainted and it was like new, and compared to eBay, a fantastic bargain. Keep an eye on the for sale ads on DOL, but also check out the Trading Post, and ask around your local groomers. RL1 Posted September 25, 2009 Author Share Posted September 25, 2009 Yes i've decided to forget about Ebay for a hyrdobath. Either the bath is interstate or the price is far too high for what it is. Even the asking price for some baths here on DOL have been more expensive compared to a brand new FIDO or a new super twin tub BARF shop hydrobath. The BARF shop one on Ebay at the moment is at $2026 with a day to go. The exact same model is $2499 brand new and includes the bonus ramp this month, which is exactly what my old Rotty needs.
