Urgent Help Needed

Hi all i need help urgently.

My girl Lizzy is 3 and has been suffering from pancreatitas for half of her life now. I don't know how to control her anymore. All i feed her is royal canin low fat digestive food and she still seems to be in pain the last week. I get her well for a couple of months and then the pain starts. Has anyone got any other suggestions on what to try and feed her with?

Ive seen 3 vets and two recommended cutting her open to see if there is anythign else going on and taking biopsies. This is major surgery and iam scared to death to put her through this. But she also cannot go on being in pain!

Can anyone help me???

Have you tried raw food at all? Kangaroo is very low in fat.

I tried home cooking for her at one stage i was alternating between kangaroo/chicken with vegetables. She did ok on this but as sick again after a couple of months so i stopped it.

Somebody recommended fish and potato. I do not know what fish to get though? I think they said Tuna but do i get it in the cans or fillets i have no idea?

Maybe it is time for the exploratory surgery.

They don't think it would be as it started when she was 1.5 years old after being feed chicken treats from china and she is now 3.

I think explority surgery is on it's way but iam scared to death to put her through it cry:

The chicken treats info adds a different perspective. There were a few vets that were looking into the health issues after this. I think one was at Sydney Uni?? What state are you in?? If you search, you should be able to find info on here about it.

Yes i contacted them and they told me that because it wasn't just her kidneys affected and a certain level in her urine was not detected they wouldn't accept the treats caused her health issues.

Even though my vet agrees they were behind her problems. She loved those treats and only weighs 4.5kg. I know they are behind her problems!

Any surgery carries risks and I am sure your Vets will do everything they can to mitigate those risks. I'd speak more with your Vet about her illness and the surgery. Let them know you are frightened.

I have taken her two two different vets. There are no specialists around where i live. I would have to take her 2 hours to find one (sydney)and stress makes her worse. I have also been having phone consults with a vet in Syndey, all natural vet care. I have spent a fortune with no success. I work full time and have a mortgage, it is hard to take her somewhere else and go through explaining everything again.

Why would a two hour drive stress her? Look at the risks of not having her looked at.

I would be making the 2 hour drive to see a specialist. Whilst stress isn;t good for her, if the drive to see a specialist can save her, why wouldn't you do it. Ensure you have somewhere to stay in case she needs to stay in hospital....and make sure you have a clear credit card.

I went through this with my Banjo (jack russell). He had terrible pancreatitis and could barely eat anything in the end. I went to Sydney Uni and they were fabulous they did a whole work up on his ($1000) worth of tests. There are multiple things that can cause pancreatitis unfortunately for him he had multiple problems and pancreatitis was just part of it. He had lesions on his liver, parathyroid issues, tumours elsewhere. Some of these problems could have been corrected surgically but due to the complexity of all put together they were unhappy to anaethetise him. He lived on for another 12 months.

Even though we couldn't do anything to help Banjo Sydney Uni certainly were about the only ones that got to the bottom of his multiple problems. So i strongly recommend you make an appointment.
