Sagittarian
Had someone ask today and I can't remember! For example, if a dog had finished a course of antibiotics two weeks ago, would it be safe to mix with other dogs? Thanks
Rappie
Had someone ask today and I can't remember! For example, if a dog had finished a course of antibiotics two weeks ago, would it be safe to mix with other dogs? Thanks Dogs can carry bordatella in their nasal passages for up to 12 weeks. As a general rule though, 10-14 days after the end of clinical symptoms - sneezing, coughing or any ocular or nasal discharge.
Sagittarian
Thank you! The person who asked the question was intending to begin obedience classes tomorrow, two weeks after symptoms disappeared. We strongly recommended she contact the club in question prior to going, and for her to check with her vet. Her response was that it doesn't matter, so I really hope she does follow through with the questions. Thanks again. Phillipa
Erny
I generally allow 10-14 days after the symptoms have disappeared. Suggest to your friend that she dose her dog up with Active Manuka Honey (UMF 20+ or higher .... don't bother with a lower UMF) especially if her dog is still symptomatic. Oops! I didn't read properly - I see that symptoms disappeared two weeks ago. Edited September 5, 2009 by Erny
Sagittarian
Thanks for the advice Erny - will keep that in mind for the future. Not a friend, unfortunately, someone we met today who knows everything and everybody and also thinks her dog is aggressive (one of the sweetest I have yet met ) - just one of those folk I guess.
