How To Glue Puppy's Ears?

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone can help out with instructions on how to glue my puppies ears (so they both become rose or half prick). She is am AMSTAFF and is slightly over 8 weeks old and don't want to leave it too late. Obviously not our main priority but she is on mains register and would like to keep her options open for potentially showing her. Problem at the moment is that one of her ears doesn't sit properly.

Maybe if someone in SA with experience in gluing staffy ears can actually glue her ears for me the first time and I can re apply once I have been shown.

Many thanks,

Kenny

Hi Kenny

Is your breeder in SA? I would've thought they would be your best bet for advice because they should have a fair idea of the lines behind your pup and the 'history of ears' :p

I think we require a photo of your girl :cheer:

Isn't this kind of cheating though? I mean, if the ears don't sit right, wouldn't it be better to not breed from her and breed for better ears? I have no idea about breeding so maybe thats not how it works, just seems odd.

Hi kman80

As a first time amstaff owner, with a pup on main, I had to tape Rhino's ears. It was surprisingly easy!

I'm not sure how to glue their ears, I prefer tape cause it's easier to apply and remove.

You can have a look here for instructions & pics.

If you pop into the Amstaff thread here I'm sure someone will be able to advise you :cheer:

Yea I would have thought so as well but I'm not a breeder either

No taping or glueing ears is not cheating, as babies teeth, they do all sorts of funny things with there ears, if the cartilidge sets this way, then you cant return them to the way they should be.

Also ears are not as important as construction or movement, they dont serve a purpose as such.

I have a Westie, and I taped his ears up, I could quite easily see that they were slowly getting there, just not quick enough for the show ring.

Cant help you kman, i dont how to do a Amstaffs ears, looks like someones posted a link, hopefully that may help?

check in on the sheltie (shetland sheepdog) thread in breed sub forums. Sheltie owners sometimes have issues with puppy ears and have good advice.

I glued my girl's ears when she was teething. (Used tape and speed sew - had my breeder do it for me).
