Oscar (AmBull)
Oscar is extremely switched on and food motivated. He already knows: sit drop stay come leave look crawl and picked up high five after two sessions on monday. So I am wanting to know some new tricks and how to execute teaching them to him. I am new to dog training so any help is much appreciated. I was thinking roll over but don't know how to teach that? Also he has a toy basket is it possible to get him to put toys in it? He takes them out himself, I just think that would be an impressive trick if possible.
Joan of Arc
Have you joined the local obedience club? I would join and take him every week and then he can do some obedience trials. Heeling work on lead should be added to all these excercies. Edited July 31, 2009 by mercedes
Oscar (AmBull)
We start obediance next week, but it is only a 5 week course? Do you know anywhere in adelaide that does it regularly? I live in the adelaide hills? Also we do need to work on heel, he is a real puller and it is something we are trying to get sorted out. We were reccomended a gentle leader? Thanks for the help. atua
Hi and congrats on getting a amstaff they are a truley magnificant breed of dog and very clever. I have always used check chains on my dogs in regards to the pulling on lead and getting them to heal and found it very successful. I have neer tried a gentle leader so i cant help you with that one. I teach my dogs to give me a cuddle. Where they stand on there back legs and put their paws on my shoulder and snuggle their head into my shoulder its so cute. Best of luck with him

You might like to check out this site for ideas and methods http://www.dogtrickacademy.com/members/forum/ Also youtube is great for getting ideas and ways to teach different tricks. Have fun with the training, do you use clicker training? I find it a great help in teaching tricks, my dog can be found on youtube under ozpawfx doing some of her tricks.
