Hannahz
June 1st 1999 - July 28 2009 Our beloved little Westie boy Geordie left us at 5.45pm yesterday. While he was my Mum's dog he did stay with us 4 months of the year while they traveled and we saw a lot of him at other times. A rectal polyp was his down fall. Pelvis splitting surgery was an option back in October 2008 but as it was considered such an invasive surgery it was decided to remove as much as possible without him enduring the risky surgery. A month ago he prolapsed his rectum so I rushed him to the Vet and as much of the polyp was removed again, and then yesterday I got home at 3.45pm to find his rectum had prolapsed again and his behind was so bloody. I rushed him to our Vet who said the options were pelvis splitting surgery or put him to sleep. I contacted my Mum by phone (they are traveling) and after consultation with the Vet it was decided to 'call it a day'. The Vet feels that the growth of the polyp was sure to mean it had now turned cancerous and that even if the surgery had gone ahead they may have found the tumour too big and need to put him down there and then. At least my brother and I could be there in his final moments. He was a wonderful, energetic, loving little Westie. A 1/2 brother to my Westie girl Kelsi and a great playmate/chaser to my Westie Hannah and he will be so sadly missed by our entire family. RIP Mr Goo - we love you so much!!! ;) Love Diana, Marcus, Mum Edited July 29, 2009 by Hannahz
